No reason for constant jabbing at Hirst. He’s a top performing in his position at this level. Sure he might not have started quite where we wanted him this season but the season is long. If he keep injury free we do well with him in attack plus KMck know what we need and he locked him down as our number 9. Time to move on from this click bait. | |

4 direct goal involvements you could say. He assisted Philogene’s 2nd tonight, he played a good 1-2 with Akpom with his head and showed good awareness to let the ball run across him and turn out to open the play up. Obviously Philogene had a lot to do but technically it’s an assist.
While it won’t go down as one I don’t think, it was very much an assist for the Southampton OG. He was superb against them.
Irrespective of that he’s a good player at this level, and his game is about so much more than goals. His movement is superb and he played well again last night. Could do with being a bit more clinical on 1 or 2 chances this season but he’s started well enough IMO. [Post edited 13 Sep 8:05]

Ditch the blond hair and he will be fine. I thought he was poor first half. But won a couple of headers early on second half and pushed on a bit. The first half performance is still a concern. Obviously not easy either a new partner (Akpom), but you have to win your duels. | | | |

He hasn't really been poor. We just haven't been a cohesive unit. He had an excellent pre-season. He should have 2 goals tonight as a fantastic 2nd that wasn't offside.
We always have to find a player or two to hang things on when not going right. Strikers don't score every chance or every game. We are only 5 games in and he's got 2. We keep improving as a team, Hirst keeps scoring. No problem | |

Let's enjoy the 5-0 and rejoice in the possibility that we will do as we did when we sliced through the divisions previously - we amassed goals from across the attacking players (and beyond). Hard to criticise Hirst on last night's performance in my view, although I did very much criticise him on the opening few games.
Having said all that, Sargent is the best goalscorer in the league, and I would love him here. First their Nunez and then their number Ninez! I feel that is pie in the absolute sky though, and I'm looking forward to seeing what our own players can conjure from confidence and partnerships. |  | | |
