Can KM turn this around? 17:21 - Sep 20 with 3866 viewsBouncebackIpswich

Shocking performance YET AGAIN today. A team lacking fluidity and attacking patterns, unable to string passes together and control games, toothless but also defensively fragile and this is despite having players on the pitch like Cajuste and Davis who are clearly far too good for the league.

A special shout out to Kasey Mcateer who would be overpriced at 120K, 12 mill in what world... He is woeful.

Having serious doubts about McKenna now, starting to look like a busted flush. Can he actually turn this around like we all assumed he would given a few games?

Yes, he can.

Don't think it's worth getting so upset about todays game, conditions were far from ideal for playing football the way the team wanted to. A far from typical situation.

The conditions sound pretty rough up there so I would think that skewed the quality of the game somewhat. A bit of a let off for us the game being abandoned though!

Agreed on Macateer not sure what he brings as yet. Not a patch on Wes that’s for sure. It was an ok away performance at half time, I would like to see more from Cajuste really offered little considering his pedigree.

Second half Greaves lost the plot, one moment of madness cost us. Let’s hope we use this get out of jail card well

What a load of utter bobbins. First half, in flashes, we were looking like 23/24. Some really good passing moves, Matusiwa's getting the hang of the Morsy turn-and-break, cutting edge wasn't quite there yet but I've rarely felt as confident we were going to go on and win a game. Second half we were dreadful, but given we were pretty much trying to play a quick-passing game in a lake by that point it's hardly surprising. So stop pissing your smalls, we're going to be fine.

I would be getting Nunez in that team sooner rather than later. Teams won't play us head on. If they do they will end up like Sheff Utd. Nunez passing will help unlock that and just control games better.

As for Mcateer. My goodness.

Good points regarding the conditions. Maybe McK gets a free pass today because of that.

And glad others are slso questioning the useless mcateer, it seemed a bizarre signing at the time and playing out that way, hopefully he will be 3rd choice once Wes is back

As Frank S says, what utter bobbins.

And as for Macateer, bet you enjoyed Jaden's hat trick the other week. He didn't have a great start to career here.

Macateer is no slouch. Works hard. Clearly liked for many reasons. Maybe give him more than a handful of games?

It's really not though is it. We packed any kind of fluidity, players seemed to have little idea what to do with the ball and as for Hirst he might as well not been on the pitch

Im always concerned when a players first quality listed is that he works hard.

We are trying to play our game and showed plenty of glimpses even in that crap weather first half. However, McAteer, as every Leicester fan told us is not a 12M player, that’s insane I can see that by the eye test. He works hard and will play a part, Burns and Egili will be involved plenty enough soon. Pretty sure it was his lose ball to O’Shea that started the nonsense second half as well.

I’m more concerned with our center halfs, no wonder it’s so rare we keep a clean sheet with the lacks of concentration.

If a player works hard and is committed, KM will get the best out of them.

I might be jumping the gun re the team as a whole but feel pretty confident in saying the other KM is a wasteman and will be out the team soon, he looks to be playing at least a couple of leagues above his ability.

Massive overpay though, there’s no market for him at 12M, not sure what we were doing there.

I think there has been too much change. I think even McKenna believes that as well. But he is capable of turning it around. Saying that, it is concerning we didn't build on the Sheffield United game, and instead regressed.

McAteer looks another overpriced unnecessary player to add to the pile.

Philogene had one decent game mostly due to Ben Godfrey. Down arrow all you like but he's been terrible since signing.

So has/were Greaves, Clarke, Muric, Ben Johnson.

There are serious questions and I fear they will only get raised by fans when the penny drops that we'll be midtable.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

Sorry, you and Foghorn have got to get with the program. That is wet trolleys and hate along with ‘not as good as’. Lots of it. A league table of players to hound. Number one:

1. Greaves: he demanded the club pay money for him and replaced our footballing hero.
2. Philogene: a hat trick doesn’t save him. He cost loads is cr@p and didn’t want to be here.
3. Clarke: limp, shorts are too big, cost a lot of money. Useless. An ‘Ashton signing’ obviously.
4. McAteer: racing up the target list. Could be second for the treatment after Greaves soon. Give him more than five games? Sorry JD, he’s had his chance. Five minutes was all he needed to join the tophate list.

Patience, encouragement and support for our players? Nah, not here. That’s for other clubs. It’s much more effective to abuse, pressure and hopefully force players out. Fun too, for some.

Let’s all yearn for those happy days of 0-0s and the midfield powerhouses of Skuse, Douglas and Hyam. People were much happier than they are now.

Oh well, everyone is entitled to a view. It’s a forum in a free (mostly) country after all.

Have a good week

Valid points from the OP let's be honest other than a win against a side having lost 7 in a row we are a team who can't win a game. Our record in 2025 as a whole stinks. I'm not saying get rid of KM but think it's a valid question to ask. Clearly last week was a false dawn based on today's evidence. I accept not every transfer works out but again right to ask the question. After this morning's results we had a chance to get in touching distance of top six today. Let's hope KM has sorted this by the time we play them again and more importantly against the scum.

Sigh.

They were not terrible signings. We got relegated and they came into a very tough situation and unsurprisingly didn't always fire. Can we just please get over the relegation? It was always a huge ask to stay up and we didn't disgrace ourselves.

Players, managers, staff are human beings.

Likewise teams are things that take time to build and shape and refine.

It's not a computer game. No team remains successful all the time. We're in a state of flux and had a challenging summer. There's no doubt that we will be top 6. I believe in KM and MA and the project.

It may be that we need another 21/22 season for KM to build and settle. If we don't get autos I would not be calling immediately for KM's head.

Everyone needs to calm down.
