Maybe they had other meetings planned and can’t meet up to discuss until later in the week?

If it's as obvious as you say what's to discuss?

I'm perfectly calm thanks. Why on earth would the clubs know but not release a statement?

perhaps agreeing the date of the replay is what causes delay?
| And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show |

It took them 13 days to announce that the Leyton Orient vs Lincoln match was to be replayed having been abandoned in the 82nd minute. Whether the length of time to announce that was out of respect to the chap that passed away we'll never know. Stephen Martin didn't referee the rematch though. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12985698/leyton-orient-vs-lincoln-

Probably have administrative procedures to follow before announcing the decision - I wouldn’t be surprised if behind the scenes both clubs have been informed of the decision but if one club disagrees, the league are duty bound to hear their objections. [Post edited 23 Sep 18:33]

The impending sense of doom goes back way before the ME era. I can remember standing at the clock end at Highbury just before kick off in the 78 cup semi-final. The teams were read out and it was then announced to a chorus of boos that Clive (b@stard) Thomas would be the referee. Someone behind me shouted "that's us f'cked then".

Probably discussing the Norwich directors input of handing the game to Blackburn with a five nil scoreline and a additional four sendings off for good measure, just in time for the local derby match.
