Palmer seems to be getting better with his feet 08:01 - Sep 28 with 704 views | Dubtractor | Really stood out yesterday that his distribution was better. Both in terms of beating the press with short passes (the sort that give you a mild heart attack, but are essential to beat the press) and with his clipped passes out to full backs. He's happy to use either foot as well, which is a big help. I know a lot on here have been concerned about this part of his game, but he did a lot of good stuff yesterday.

Yes, meant to mention his sweeping too. Thought he had a really good game overall.

The stop-go timing coming out for the one he smothered at the attacker's feet was really good and forced the attacker's hand in having a bad touch, I think.

Palmer seems to be getting better with his feet on 08:12 - Sep 28 with 616 views | PioneerBlue | Watching players last season it was really hard finding any marginal improvements in players across the season when we were exposed every week. However players will have improved. This season it should be more obvious and let’s start with Matusiwa and you’ve raised us Palmer. Yes definite progress on this one which is great, big questions hung over him at start of campaign in terms of whether he was the kind of keeper a we’d need with ball playing defenders.

Palmer seems to be getting better with his feet on 08:13 - Sep 28 with 609 views | Herbivore | Think there was maybe one time in the first half when he rushed and hit a poor clearance under not much pressure but aside from that his distribution was really good. Thought it was his best game for us yesterday all round, made an important stop one v one at 1-0 and swept up very nicely. Nothing he could do about the goal.

Palmer seems to be getting better with his feet on 08:36 - Sep 28 with 500 views | nrb1985 | Agreed - thought he looked very accomplished with ball at feet yesterday. He even took one quick free kick off his left foot yesterday, so he’s obviously feeling much more confident. If he can keep improving that then we will have a very very good keeper for this level. Needs to save a penalty sooner or later though! His attempt at Preston particularly was farcical!

Must admit though he gave me a heart attack when he took the freekick down by our own corner flag.. some of his long kicks don't actually go that far and they did actually end up with a small glimmer of potential of being able to attack the goal however they fluffed it thankfully.

Palmer seems to be getting better with his feet on 08:55 - Sep 28 with 371 views | _clive_baker_ | I think Palmer’s fine. There will no doubt be occasions this season where he cocks up as all keepers will, but he’s a pretty dependable keeper, a good age and experienced at this level. I think he’s a 7/10 sort of keeper and not premier league quality, but then we’re not in the premier league. He’s a decent shot stopped and OK with his feet.
Palmer seems to be getting better with his feet on 09:12 - Sep 28 with 296 views | rkc123 | I thought he was excellent, it was a big save he made in the first half when 1 on 1 as well. That pinged little ball over the press to the full backs is huge as well, you see the best ball playing keepers use it and it basically negates the press as the wingers can't fully commit unless the team commit further players into pressing, and it then opens up more space just to play it out from the back more simply through the centre backs.
Palmer seems to be getting better with his feet on 09:25 - Sep 28 with 204 views | unstableblue | Again Dubster, completely agree. Seems just more comfortable on the ball. And despite a few last minute releases of the ball with an attack incoming, I never felt my heart in mouth! Which I have had before.

Palmer seems to be getting better with his feet on 09:49 - Sep 28 with 137 views | Exiled2Surrey | Agree on the passing, much more composed. But does anyone else think that the trajectory of his long ball has become a lot flatter - I wonder if that is deliberate? I would think that it is more difficult for a defender to set himself if it is not coming down with snow on it. BTW on that subject, I thought their keeper had a monster kick - not particularly accurate but reminded me of Delap in its force
