KMc got it wrong tonight.. 00:02 - Oct 1 with 2709 views | Wallingford_Boy | If you’re honest you know that Giving Nunez a start for the sake of it, dropping Philogene. Big game and we got it wrong. Missed opportunity. Shame. Cue the downvotes for questioning him….

KMc got it wrong tonight.. on 07:26 - Oct 1 with 1706 views | FrimleyBlue | He only got it wrong depending on what he personally believe would be the most likely outcome. I don't personally believe he'd have gone in 100% believing we'd leave with 3 points, however he has achieved the aim imo of getting important minutes into players we're going to need over the season.

KMc got it wrong tonight.. on 07:29 - Oct 1 with 1689 views | Chocorange | For me , this reminded me of when we were in league 1 (early part of the promotion season)with supposedly a far better squad than every other team , when KM made changes to rotate players every time there was a midweek game. It didn’t work and we dropped points and fell behind Plymouth and Wednesday. Only when we had the game at Bristol Rovers where it all kicked off with Morsy and some fans ( that night we had Aluko and.a young Humphreys starting ) and it ended 0-0 dropping us even further behind to the point it seemed impossible did we then stop making changes for changes sake , had a settled team and went on the brilliant winning run. Fast forward to now, we supposedly have a far better squad , we made lots of changes… we have seen it so so often in cup games… thinking our squad players are more than good enough as in that league 1 campaign. Is it to keep players happy? if so they proved last night they have work to do to deserve the chance to be picked. Do we really want to gamble the clubs future and promotion by playing all of those squad players together. You can change one maybe two, and the team work and link up play will still be there, change 6 and the quality drop off is clear. We have seen what is happening to Sheffield United this season and many other teams that miss out on promotion back the the Premier league at the first attempt… the chance is gone forever.
I agree tbh Wallers on 07:34 - Oct 1 with 1665 views | Dyland | I can't stand this kind of roatation. I do of course accept that the sports science and stats tell the management team lots of stuff I'm not aware of but so many changes to a team "gelling" (yeh right that word) and winning doesn't sit right. Sure, the games come thick and fast, but the finishers can get up to speed and the starters given more rest if subs are made around 60/65 innit? I guess we'll have to like it or lump it cos this rotation is here to stay while McK is steering. Hopefully it will work more than it doesn't.

More to get them up to speed and match fitness. I get that, but subs earlier maybe? Ref my other post.

Have to disagree with this. The aim is to win matches, not getting minutes into legs. They can do that from the bench.

Hang on, are you suggesting he used last night as an opportunity to give people minutes rather than to get 3 points? So effectively a friendly?

Tough one. | | | |
KMc got it wrong tonight.. on 09:16 - Oct 1 with 1294 views | dirtyboy | Kieran has always looked at the bigger picture and I think he'd have thought that team was capable of winning that game. Ultimately, we have to credit Bristol with being very very organised, I was impressed with that side. We dominated the ball, had plenty of opportunities, but lacked that fluidity and a bit of quality at key moments. I think we'll look at that as a good point. Win home, don't lose away, it's a good combination in what looks like being a much more closely fought Championship season. Getting players match fit without the cup is difficult and we all know we'll need players throughout the season, so it's not unreasonable to make a number of changes. We also have no idea if any of those changes were because of niggles and precautionary.
KMc got it wrong tonight.. on 09:17 - Oct 1 with 1285 views | SuffolkPunchFC | You're entitled to have an opinion like this, but you then need to accept that it is an uninformed opinion, without all of the facts. Only Kieran and the backroom staff know the condition of all of the players. Are some still recovering from Saturday? Are energy levels where he wants them to be? Where there some minor niggles picked up that weren't worth mentioning as 'injuries', but would benefit from a few more days rest? Regardless of who we play on Sunday, it is his responsibility to manage the players condition for 3 games in 10 days, and entering a period of 18 games in 13 weeks. IMO 1 point from a potentially tough away midweek game is an ok result, and par. YEs, we need to pick up more away wins, but there will be easier places to get them as the squad setteles.
KMc got it wrong tonight.. on 09:20 - Oct 1 with 1265 views | baxterbasics | I wonder if he just thought "fans will be a lot less happy if I can't field my strongest team against Norwich" and banked on being able to take Bristol on with the second string instead.

KMc got it wrong tonight.. on 09:53 - Oct 1 with 1164 views | BeachBlue | I'm not down voting you or up voting you. I respect your opinion and yes, you are entitled to question Kieran McKenna. I do maintain however that it's a match three days after the last. We don't have access to players fitness data and we have to keep players involved to maintain match fitness and allow players to learn together as a team. If we had a major injury to a player, someone else has to step up and if they haven't played for weeks, it'll hurt us.

KMc got it wrong tonight.. on 10:09 - Oct 1 with 1057 views | baxterbasics | On Nunez and his actual performance, I thought he was pinging some really sharp passes about in tight spaces during the first period before everything went south with their goal. At that point most of the team forgot how to play, so I don't see much utility singling out Nunez, or Akpom, or McAteer and so on.

Agree.... Some of our changes are still a bit experimental in terms of partnerships on the pitch... We not gonna know this unless we try . Think KM will take a lot from this game.

Part of the issue seemed to be that whenever Nunez made an incisive, quick forward pass that whoever received it was then playing it backwards as part of a passing triangle rather then trying to turn their man/get a quick shot off/etc, etc. That really slowed us down when he was trying to get us going.

Indeed, we have a better squad than probably anyone else in this league & we'd be shooting ourselves in the foot if we didn't use it. Whenever McKenna makes changes after a positive result & the next game isn't won, people are going to criticise him. It's a 46 game season.

He's proving it atm. In terms of a rebuild.. We are making steady progress, with plenty of improvement to come. Not sure why you or anyone else, would still want to use the Prem' season, as a stick to beat KM with? I have no doubt whatsoever, that that experience, has just made KM a stronger manager and a stronger individual. He certainly won't be sh1tting the bed after a point away at Bristol City. He'll be taking the positives out of it. And trying to improve the areas that were below par.

Wouldn't quite put it like that but in a way yes Id say he hoped he could get 3 points, but I Doubt he honestly thought it would get it
