“I was at a club where regardless whether you took your opportunity or not there was politics behind it that you weren’t in the team for that reason or this reason”
Maybe backs up the claim of players starting because of the price tag?
and possibly explains why we let him go; you want everyone pulling in the same direction
I’ve always had a feeling when the team sheet kept getting leaked and he wasn’t part of it, that he was the source of it. Can understand his bitterness though as he always seemed to perform when actually in the team.
I'm pretty disappointed by Woolfy being a bit public with his grievances here, aswith some of his social media posting, pretty unprofessional tbh.
McKenna clearly decided that Woolfy wasn't his first choice, as managers will often do, and fair enough that Woolfy wanted to move on, but this sort of stuff reflects pretty poorly on him.

100%. This is so unbelievably poor from Woolfendon and he does not get a pass for being an Ipswich lad.
You don't build success on what he's described and we have a had a lot of success.
It's bitterness because we evolved and progressed. Very very disappointing. To add to Instagram he previously posted.
You asked me who said he was MOTM vs Pompey, I responded. Not sure why you’re being so argumentative
Argumentative? We're having a discussion.
Your response to the OP was, "Looking forward to this being dismissed as rubbish despite Kipre being MOTM Saturday and dropped on Tuesday" - the suggestion, clearly, that Kipre was dropped due to internal politics too.
We both know what you're suggesting, we both know why he was MOTM (sponsors wanting to meet their man - something you've deliberately omitted) and we both know why you're trying to shut down the conversation by calling me argumentative, while not responding to the points made.
can't see ashton picking the team, mckenna wouldn't stand for that
Who's suggesting Ashton was picking tge team? If KMK pushed and pushed for the Greaves signing then that puts the pressure on him to play him regardless of form.

And everyone else can see it too.
Can’t say I follow the logic that sponsors are desperate to meet new celeb in town Cedric Kipre. You still sound really angry. Try and blow off some steam in more healthy ways than getting worked up on football forums

you're the one whinging about the terrible injustice meted out to coventry players on an itfc forum!

the poster in the post i was replying to suggested that ashton and the owners could have been putting pressure on km to play greaves, so his value didn't fall.
the only pressure on km from ashton will be to get results
More likely he wasn't played as often as he wished because in a back four he was not as good as in a back three. Our nickname for him was "deckchair" because at times he looked like he was sitting in one instead of dumping the centre forward on his derriere.
I don't think we're really missing him.

Interestingly though, virtually every goal we've conceded this season has been down to defensive errors or has been self-inflicted.

try sky blues talk
I think the squad was mismanaged last season. That’s the Ipswich squad, not the Coventry one. Not sure the lads on sky blues talk would be that interested to hear about it

i think the squad was managed well last season, so did woolfy presumably, hence the contract extension
i think the squad is being well managed now that they are pulling in one direction, and the upturn in results and performances seems to support that

I'm not remotely angry, and there's nothing in my posts that suggests I am. You're just deflecting because you don't want to answer the points.
I've no idea why the sponsors wanted to meet Kipre, but sponsors often choose their MOTM based on who they want to meet. And even if they choose a player purely on performance, I'm not sure why we're thinking sponsors have any particular footballing knowledge or should be listened to in that regard. No-one else had him as MOTM.
Maybe not McKenna but I suppose it's just possible that with Muric turning out to be a wasting asset, Ashton and the owners didn't want the same to happen to Greaves, if he were dropped long-term, particularly given their business model.
Everyone is making this about Greaves, but I thought it clear that Greaves was brought in because Woolfenden had already lost the manager's trust. He was a mainstay in the starting 11 for most of the preceding promotion campaign, but he was dropped for Edmundson in two pivotal late-season matches.
He was deemed a squad player here, but he wasn't content with that and forced a move. Now he is a squad player for Coventry.
This should all be water under the bridge. This interview only serves to inform that the proper decision was made.

O'Shea was brought in to replace Woolfenden. Greaves came in for Burgess. It's reflected on the sides of defence they played.
we still are pretty tight, only 2 teams have let in less than our 7, it's the other end where we need to up the numbers!
in our promotion year, the defence wasn't as strong in comparison (7th overall)

Only Bristol City have conceded more than us out of the top nine heading into today, and all of those teams have played a game more than Town. And City have only conceded one more.
