Leif Davis - Servant, Legend, Blue.. what's his future? 09:40 - Oct 8 with 2471 views | unstableblue | What stood out in much of the derby glory media output was what a true blue Leif Davis is. A true servant of the club. From singing the blues on the pitch, to waxing lyrical on ITV sport, to his reaction on the pitch to Jaden's wunder strike. He's beginning to feel like a 'one club man', not passing through. His connection with the fans, club and our history feels real. Is it 151 appearances for Town now? god know how many assists. He's so bloody robust as well. And in a recent post clearly seen as in our top three players in terms of quality alongside Jaden and Matusiwa. And transfermarket have him as our most valuable player (note: and that's with with Egeli's value recently been increased from him joining us). He's part of the ever diminishing old guard, key to keeping that connection with the double promotion seasons. What is it now Hirst, Walton, Burns, and Davis? (albeit fans are beginning to form new heroes in Matusiwa, Egeli, Clarke). He's going to be 26 in December. Let's face it he didn't set the Premier league alight. There were moments, yes. But he struggled with the quality of left wingers in the Prem... which is considerable. What's his future? clearly he'll have a laser focus on Prem promotion and seeing whether he can have a better showing second time around. If we failed to get promoted (which I can't see), would he leave? would someone come in for him on big money whatever our destiny? Be interesting to see how he develops and where his career goes. I hope its with us, till he tails down his career. I assume he's settle in the area. What a great servant an guy. [Post edited 8 Oct 17:46]

Leif David - Servant, Legend, Blue.. what's his future? on 09:48 - Oct 8 with 2374 views | TRUE_BLUE123 | He is a Premier League quality footballer. No doubt in my mind. Defensively there are question marks of course but that is the same for so many full backs in the prem and I actually think it wasn't his defending that was the issue and more the system hindering him. He needs an athletic midfielder who can cover him like Mass did in double promotion. Not Kalvin Phillips, Jens Cajuste or Jack Taylor. He also needs a Left centre back who can cover him, not Jacob Greaves. If you can put support around him you have an elite attacking left back, the numbers were there. If he played Left Back for a better Prem team than we were, he would be in the England squad. Something else I have noticed with Leif is that he seems to be getting quicker. My word he is fast, absolutely breezes past people. [Post edited 8 Oct 9:49]

I think his Prem experience scarred him a little, so I think he's quite happy with us as long as we are competitive. At nearly 26, hes no longer a youngster, and (daft as it sounds) too old for the money ball model clubs to look to make a big profit from. I think if we stay competitive, and reward him well, he'll be happy enough to stay.

I imagine he’ll meet a woman on Monday, take her for a drink on Tuesday. With any luck he’ll be making love to her on Wednesday, probably Thursday, Friday and Saturday too. He’ll chill on Sunday.

Leif David - Servant, Legend, Blue.. what's his future? on 11:59 - Oct 8 with 1849 views | Everydayblue | We were lucky to sign him at such a young age, whilst in L1. As oppose to a 28 year old plus, aged player.. One of the few players with enough qualities and age on his side, to still be a part of this incredible journey we are on. Aside from his obvious ability and his desire to keep on improving under KM.. He just comes across as a very low maintenance player to have in the dressing room. And an all round good egg. ( Quick mentions for Jack Taylor and Cam Humphrys, who are still he, and also played their parts in the promotion seasons. But not mentioned in the OP) Edit... Can't imagine him moving on, anytime soon. Think he'd have to improve a bit defensively, To suit anyone higher up the food chain, imo. Although, an interest from Newcastle, if it were to happen. Might be the one to temp him away. [Post edited 8 Oct 12:04]

Keep him this season and next and he’s probably ours forever. Top player.

Leif David - Servant, Legend, Blue.. what's his future? on 12:45 - Oct 8 with 1625 views | NthQldITFC | He's a fantastic player, a fantastic character, but what I've really noticed about him this season is his leadership qualities flourishing. He's really been helping Jaden and more recently Marcelino with arm round the shoulder chats in game - and you can see that they are really paying attention to him. It just gets better and better. He's clearly one of the new leadership group, and you get the impression that he will go on to be captain and manger one day.

I think his dream of being a pilot might stop his management career. Great point though, he even said in an interview I think that he puts it on himself to keep Jaden alert during the game because he can drift out of them.

There is no need for superstition in this season Ryorry.. our quality of player and manager shall ride over the luck (or is saying that an even bigger hex?!)

Leif Davis - Servant, Legend, Blue.. what's his future? on 19:21 - Oct 8 with 988 views | FoD_Blue | Sorry, inadvertant downvote. I actually agree with pretty much all you said. I think the big thing that would draw him away from Portman Road would be a move to Newcastle. But until he proves himself in the premier League, that's very unlikely. I think he is certainly good enough for the Premier League, however I feel that last season our playing style/tactics left him somewhat exposed.

Decent but constantly injured seemed to be the verdict. Touching wood ooh er the guys is made of steel, barely missed a game. What a buy he has been, and yes he does seem quicker some how.
