I was really hoping that Szmodics was more precautionary, but sounds a little more serious now?

Reading Phil's article, it makes it sound as if Egeli was out of choice rather than force majeur.

If so, full credit to the lad. Clearly feels his fortnight would be better spent with KMc, than playing some meaningless friendlies.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

Just said on the Norwegian FA site that he pulled out. It was a friendly so wouldn't need to be much for him to be withdrawn if it was a knock.

I hope not. Szmodics' Town career has felt a bit stop/start at times.

"In a boot" sounds like a worryingly long lay off - but is it also possibly a very short temporary procedure? Think I've heard of others before seen in a boot (not car boot), who've miraculously made the next game a week later. That's if this boot thing is true.

Joe says he’s been seen at the training ground on crutches.

That's massively frustrating as he had his best game of the season against Norwich.

Time for Akpom to shine I guess.

I think over the years the player most likely to end up in a car boot was Chopra...

It reads to me as though it is Egeli who has been seen at the training ground on crutches. Can someone please clarify, as this all seems confusing.

I suppose though, it is more likely to be Szmodics.

I don't see how SS could have a 'serious' injury. He played 86 minutes and ran off the pitch looking fine ( albeit knackered ). When did this injury occur, in the changing room?

I'll believe it when we hear from the club, but if he got to the ROI training camp, maybe then?

I don't think he would have got there given the withdrawal was so early. Last time it was due to swelling on the ankle he had surgery on, so would guess it's probably that again. Might help that Rene Gilmartin is on the Irish U21s staff when it comes to ruling him out.

Any truth in him being pictured in a boot then, could be precautionary when he's being 'active'? I'm sure they've done that before.

Think it would probably help with reducing swelling. I think he was the same in the last break and played the following game, if I remember rightly.

Not seen anything. All they did was update the page from when they initially announced the squad, hence his withdrawal rather slipped under the radar.

Sindre posted on his insta "What a win! Thank you Portman Road" with a picture of him playing in the match. Jens replied "Starkt brorsan" which translates as "Strong Brother". with an strong arm emoji and a blue heart. So a completely different context than the one being presented in this thread.

If Szmodics does find himself facing a lengthy spell out, this would possibly pave the way for a Chaplin return in Jan, no?

I think we may have been told about that by now if it was true!

Just a precautionary withdrawal I am sure, he'll start on Friday.

RIP Sir Bobby
