….Knapper can get away with sacking a manager that he appointed without getting binned himself.

I suspect that any new appointment will be taken out of his hands and that he’ll be on very thin ice between now and the next transfer window.

He was a very odd appointment in the first place, it was almost as if Webber recommended his replacement purely as a tactic to make his own reign look more positive.

That club’s board is totally out of its depth.

Banter.

Era.

Just as a thought experiment, and not defending them or attacking you in the slightest - but what do you do if you're the board at Norwich?

It'll be hard enough to cling onto Sargent as it is (their one quality player, whose head now seems to be down), and they don't seem to have any real pile of money to improve the team. We have a huge budget, a coveted coach, full stands, and a widely respected hierarchy behind the scenes. And even we're finding this mediocre league hard going. I just don't think their squad is any better than their league position.

I genuinely don't know what they can do that will shift the dial. How do they bring in the money that's needed?

Clearly their stadium plans are daft:
(a) they're annoying their only loyal asset - their fans, and
(b) it doesn't really do anything material to revenue.
So drop those plans, listen to the fans, get buy-in.

But beyond that, what the Swiss Dickens can they do?!

I thought you meant Bryan Gunn was going back to the Budgies.

Correct ….the whole club is a rudderless ship at the moment , Knapper has not had his hand held by anybody with football nouse and clout .
More importantly the yanks have not put anybody in-house at the temple of doom from their own trusted employees , consequently Knapper has nobody to answer too on his doorstep .

The club is a sh!tstorm at present.
Long may it continue.

Listening to one of their podcasts (to be fair the local journalists are doing a good job at holding the club to account) it seems like, aside from Manning, just about every senior position is held by someone in that role for the first time in their career.

Their recruitment has been appalling, whoever thinks that a team of 20 year olds from foreign leagues will finish in the top 6 is insane. Their only established championship players are Sargent, Stacey, McClean and Darling. Most of the rest are well off it.

After Wagner got them to the play-offs he was fired, JHT signed a 3 year contract and fired after 1 year. Manning and his team have 4 year contracts.

Heaps of injuries, been the case over the last couple of years.

And then there's the stadium redevelopment, done without consultation.

On Saturday they didn't seem to know who they wanted out, whether it was Manning, Knapper or Zoe Webber.

They've only spent £50m+ over the last 2 summers to get here.

And in the summer they came out and said their stated objective for this season was top 6, and not another "transition" season (that was the reason they gave for sacking JHT)

It's great listening and wonderful watching. Can see why Nunez has a permanent smile on his face.

Funny.

Agent: Mate, had Rangers on the phone, think you want to speak to them?

Rohl: Don't be silly, as if I'd stoop to that. There must be other options I can look at, anyone else sniffing around?

Agent: Well looks like there might be a vacancy at Norwich coming up, I could put some feelers out?

Rohl: - - - - - - - - - "Get me Rangers on the phone, and quickly"

….the owners basically inherited the senior management team there and have seemingly allowed them to make all the “footballing” decisions.

It would have been like Gamechanger coming in here and deciding that people like Clegg/Milne and Lee O’Neill should remain in charge.

They need a complete rebuild at board level.

Should keep him there a bit longer, fingers crossed.

Think the fact that there local media have said nothing to dispel the rumour shows it’s most likely true.

If you were to guess, you would think the club have asked the local media not to say anything until after there game tomorrow as if they say anything now then it’s just chaos before then especially if they’re not planning on getting rid until after the game.

If they do it will cost them.

Four year contract to pay off having already paid substantial compensation to Bristol City for the privilege. If they then pay further compensation on a replacement, Mannings appointment is looking like a very expensive mistake!

….about the best they could attract. He’s done OK in spells but is a bit “streaky” when it comes to getting results and is prone to being over emotional.

Robins has only really ever done well at Coventry, apart from that he’s a classic dull “journeyman” manager. They might favour him because he played for them when they were at their very “average” peak as a club.

Rohl is back in Rangers’ thoughts, so hopefully they don’t have a chance.

Whatever way they go, I hope and expect they’ll make the wrong decision.

Manning in.

Harsh re Robins, Stoke in 3rd at the minute. Which makes it even more funny that they think he’d go there

If they do i hope it's soon before farke gets the sack at Leeds which is always on the cards.

Doubt it, and even if he was free, he would go a promotion contender at worse.

Truly impaired.

I thought Schlupp was a decent signing for them. But like most championship clubs, once your stuck in the league for a few years the only way you can look is down.

He would never go back there. Possibly the best manager they ever had, treated horrendously in the end.
