| Many didn't want burley gone. 21:45 - Oct 21 with 2380 views | FrimleyBlue | Is it the same feeling Is back credit enough. What's the plan. What do the the board expect. It's incredibly difficult tbh. On one hand you want to say he's a great young manager. But is that it. Did he reach his peak. I can understand why there's thoughts on both sides of the fence and I don't think either thoughts are wrong tbh. Football is a business. And really it doesn't matter what we think more what the owners do and not really ashton. So this isn't km out. It's more of are we caught in that same crossroads where heart rules over head. I've always said from November we will get going. I said the other day were close to breezing the league. But.. I'm also concerned about km and his philosophys which may be hindering us and he is after all the manager who signed these players. So the buck falls at his door. But I also remember what he gave us and each week brings home it'll come again but it's a tough emotional sport football. | |

| Many didn't want burley gone. on 21:51 - Oct 21 with 2233 views | gainsboroughblue | For 45 minutes, I felt we finally looked a bit more connected together. We still try the same things over and over again though and teams telegraph that. The main trouble is, we switch off not for a second but for multiple minutes at a time and get punished. In some ways I'm glad we didn't have a mini revival at the end for it to finish 1-3 or 2-3 because some serious conversations need to be happening. I'm also not talking McK out or anything like that but a serious review of what we've done and where the feck are we actually heading and what we are planning because since promotion, we just look like we've been making it up as we go along. | |

We have been a calm thinking club for a while not making knee jerk reactions. I think the problems started with last summer and not getting in experienced heads. Almost every player bought in the last 3 windows has been with resale value in the future and it has cost us in the short term. My only real concern with KMc is that we keep doing the same thing week in week out expecting a different outcome. He needs to start learning and adapting during the game feather than hoping it turns round.
| Many didn't want burley gone. on 21:54 - Oct 21 with 2150 views | Vaughan8 | I know this is going to sound completely mad, and I don't think we played well today, but if we get the first goal, get a bit of luck, we could have won that 3-0 too. We definitely didn't get the luck today too, but the defence is so fragile and weak. We need to work on that as we can't be that bad (and against Middlesbrough) Can we change to 3 at the back? Would that help. it seems we just play the same every game though I'm sure there are little tweaks. | | | |

There is an imbalance there. We missed Matusiwa but Christ, I never thought we'd miss him THAT much. Dunno what Kasey McAteer brings. Nunez tried too hard and needs someone with a bit of steel next to him. Like Morsy. In fact, I'd say Morsy is the biggest miss this season. I don't get what the plan is with KM. Are we passing the opposition and each other to death? Should we have stuck with a glaringly poor back four? I include Davis in that because he's not a defender. He couldn't defend Mother Theresa. Where's the bread and butter behind the foamy cream cakes and too-sweet iced biscuits of Philo, Clarke and Cajuste? Why aren't we Bournemouth, or Brighton, or even Sunderland? How hard is it to sign quality? And then train it to perform the grist of the game, the gritty stuff. We remind me of the King's team in Disney classic 'Bedknobs and Broomsticks'. All rushing forward to score stunners. Defending? Nah. We're too good to track back. I have to say, this is KM's massive weaknesses exploited. Sure, double promotions were brilliant and fair play. But it's just been wasted through overspending on a fair bit of inconsistency and general sh*te. Who are allowed to tippy-tap their merry way around the pitch.

Er.... But we didn't lose to Norwich. The same as we haven't lost to Brum, Saints, Derby, Sheff U, Pompey and Bristol. No one can say he would be sacked. Using your formula for the trigger being 3 losses in row, he should be sacked if we don't win against West Brom?

I’ll support the team and go and watch whenever I can, and part of that will be supporting the players and KM while they’re here. I have no say in what happens to any of them, so I’ll leave that to people who are paid to make those decisions. I wouldn’t want to be Aston, that’s for sure. Edited to get rid of the full stop at the end of the title. Yes, I’m that petty! [Post edited 23 Oct 2025 0:00]

It's not mad, those are the margins. We could have gone behind against Sheff Utd, but went on to win 5-0. Problem is apart from Philogene we're not looking clinical in front of goal.
| Many didn't want burley gone. on 12:07 - Oct 23 with 1355 views | GlasgowBlue | What good to sacking Burley do us? We never got back to the Premiership until KM took us up. If we sacked him then we would replace him with somebody who was inferior. Absolute nonsense that it's being discussed (not aimed at you). | |

Mass, Sam, Burgess, Chaplin.., winners, we do know that, leaders too. Maybe they carried him more than we realised. George went on to have huge success after us, at Hearts and managed Scotland, I was at Grimsby ., wasn’t great, but gutted to see him go, and guessing other factors than football, contributed to that. A difficult comparison. George took us to Europe. One of the best seasons of any side ever for our size. McKenna. Second to a REALLY poor Plymouth hasn’t aged well, and last season was the worst in our history.., no excuses for that, he had huge investment, he was massively out of his depth, and I think the players saw that and that’s why they aren’t here now! Where most clubs would have sacked the manager. We kept him. Doubled down on the decision to pay him champions league wages, and sacked TWO groups of players and spent £200 million in the process. As strategies go - it’s dog poo isn’t it!!! Always was and remains amateur hour from Ashton. For the investment.., we could have paid and attracted world class talent! You still sticking by McKenna is world class.., elite.., he might well be a very talented coach, but he’s barely an average manager. The tide is out. No manger in English football has been backed more, let alone at Ipswich, and he’s just not at the level we hoped he would be. Not his fault. Ashton.., 35 years in the game, and it’s the laziest, least elite set of decisions ever made out our club!!! And the consequences will last a generation if we don’t act soon. They really will.
