There was an owner who took a club to almost liquidation and repeated the feat with a rugby union. club - can’t remember the football club or owner. Think the rugby club was Wasps.

He must be quite unpopular- or I’m completely making it up.

Geordies hated Mike Ashley for sure but funnily enough I've heard a few Wednesday fans calling for him to take over their club. Desperate times for them

There’s difference between incompetent and hated I suppose, but off the top of my head:
Jason Whittingham at Morecambe.
Glazers at Man U.
Ashley at Newcastle.
SISU at Cov.
The Far East lunatics at Brum.
Peter Swales at Man City in the 90s.
Brighton’s owner who sold the Goldstone with no alternative (Archer?)
Robert Chase at Nodge.
Al Fayed posthumously at Fulham.
Brady & Sullivan at West Ham.
Sangaard at Charlton.
Vincent Tan at Cardiff.

Blackburn had (still have?) some pretty unpopular owners. Venkys was it?

Venkys, of course, can’t believe I forgot them. Thought they’d started growing rice in Lancashire, the pitch certainly resembles a paddy field.

If he takes over would they become Sheffield sports direct Wednesday.

Would all of their players be on zero hours contracts and only paid for the time they are on the pitch?

Also 90 minutes means no breaks.

Aside from the nonsense about the abandonment and how it should be handled, I thought it quite sad how rundown Ewood Park was. Sparse crowd, little excitement, hard to believe ex Premier League winners, and regulars in the PL until the Venkys arrived 15 years ago.

Yep, it was quite a miserable experience.

A legends bar that was shut, no TLC spent on the ground etc. They should get some turnstiles painted at least.

Anyone else remember being at our match at the Baseball Ground just after Robert Maxwell died in a yachting 'accident'? The announcer almost apologised for Derby holding a minutes silence (before a minutes applause was introduced) saying that it was traditional to hold a silence for former chairman and directors and hoping that it would be respected. It was not - only a few seconds in and a chant went up of 'Maxwell is dead'and the silence was abruptly ended. The level of hatred for an owner there was off the scale.

Poll: If you watch Town less often than in the past, what is the main reason?

Yes, I do remember that, should have included him in my list….
They scored the winner that day while Eddie Youds was off the pitch being treated.

George Reynolds, serial jailbird, is the one who has stuck most in my mind, maybe partly because local; a quick fly-through -

I was late for that one. I arrived on the terrace and it was absolute bedlam but the players were around the centre circle.
I asked a copper what was going on. He laughed and said 'this is supposed to be a minutes silence for Robert Maxwell', it was quite something.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

Surprised to get this far down the thread and not see Marcus Evans yet (apologies if I missed his mention).

He might not have had the arrogance and lack of respect for fans that some of those listed above have had but he tore the soul out of the club and was slowly killing us through his ineptitude and woeful recruitment.

I could handle the periods in our history playing bad football under unexciting managers but his ownership was death by a 1000 cuts.
