| Rob Edwards has joined Wolves on 17:04 - Nov 10 by MrPotatoHead | Don't get me wrong I think their squad is crap, but given some licence to change that you would've thought they could shift a few of the expensive flops and bring in 6 or 7 more proven players over the next window or 2. Boro finished 4th, 8th then 10th under Carrick, I don't think his stock is as high as some think it is. Not saying he can't do better than Norwich, but I could see some appeal if the job was offered to him. |
Guess it really depends how much this season is going to hurt them If they're only paying 1 million back of an 8 mill interest payment to the owner there is an issue there behind the scenes financially. And how long will he allow that. I think for the club to actively announce in their accounts that funds will need to required if promotion not achieved this season is quite an open statement.

The Budgies are clearly a selling club. I have no idea if their new American owners are willing to "invest". The front man, Attanasio, is wealthy, but so was Marcus Evans.

I'm just reading through their financial report now. I'm a complete layman here, but it seems odd that the club made a loss of almost £14.4m, yet still paid out dividends of over £850k. Is this just a more tax-efficient way of paying the directors, given that I see Tom Smith received a dividend of £63,837 on his single B preference share? EDIT - Having done some reading, given that NCFC made a loss last year, do these dividends not count as Directors' Loans instead, which must be repaid? [Post edited 10 Nov 17:47]

| Rob Edwards has joined Wolves on 17:12 - Nov 10 by Radlett_blue | Yes, Wolves have become a selling club & that usually ends badly. Could be a poor career move for Edwards, who was rebuilding his reputation at Boro. |
I can't believe it will be anything other than a mistake but time will tell

With all the yoyoing, they have generally been feeding off parachute payments. I think the last time they ran out of them, they sold Maddison for a decent amount, giving them essentially an extra season of them. So this time around, they have failed to get what they wanted really for the likes of Rowe particularly, were planning to sell Sargent and he didn't leave. That may have played a part in offloading Nunez. They have reinvested the sales they have made on some very hopeful replacements and so far, they show little signs of being the same level as Sainz, Nunez or Rowe frankly. The bubble does appear to have burst, I still think they'll have enough to stay up and who knows, perhaps some of those signings will grow as they get used to the league, so far they look like some incredibly poor investments.

Both Solsjaer and Carrick would be very much in the McKenna mould and certainly more exciting than Gary O'Neil and Russell Martin who are massively overrated managers Carrick built a reasonable squad at Boro but never seemed able to get them to kick on, Ole has reasonable experience albeit hasn't succeeded at some big clubs with big expectations. You'd probably argue he has been one of Man U's best managers since Ferguson left The problem for Norwich is you have three options as a propsective manager currently with both Southampton and Boro looking far better prospects [Post edited 10 Nov 19:45]

| Rob Edwards has joined Wolves on 16:30 - Nov 10 by Radlett_blue | I don't understand the clamour for O'Neil. He briefly did a decent short term job at Bournemouth & then wolves before it all went pear shaped. No evidence he can build a team. |
People have heard him on Sky as a pundit and think he 'talks well' so that's good enough for lots of fans. See also Will Still. We are in the age of populist football managers.

Will Still probably has some money in the bank I suspect, Norwich were mooted of having an interest last time around too but I can't imagine he'd go there now unless he particularly enjoys pain Whatever he was trying to achieve at Southampton, it went horribly wrong but you do wonder how damaging that relegation has been, both ourselves and Leicester haven't exactly ripped it up either with us starting to show some progress at least now and that comes with the stability of McKenna staying in charge, not that it was an overly stable summer

Boro decide to go for Nathan Jones who has Charlton punching above their weight Charlton appoint Gary O'Neil Coventry lose Lampard to Southampton Stoke lose Robins back to Coventry Millwall lose Alex Neil back to Stoke and appoint Michael Carrick Stoke move for Preston's Paul Heckingbottom Preston appoint Will Still Nodge appoint Russell Martin Managerial turmoil at all the teams around us...., McKenna storms to the title.

Still would probably be a decent appointment if he went to a club with some stability & average expectations. Interestingly he didn't bring in a whole team with him, only a goalkeeping coach & while I always think changing the whole backroom team every time you change manager is a bit silly, this worked against him.

| Rob Edwards has joined Wolves on 12:35 - Nov 10 by MrPotatoHead | I wondered if Norwich were dragging their feet on Manning in the hope Farke became available. Would certainly be a sensible hire from Knapper as he would be afforded more time than most and would take the heat off him. Not sure he would necessarily go back there though. |
Not sure about Farke.... But you'd assume they've been planning something. Given the time it took them to pull the trigger on Manning. He should have gone a month back, really. Wonder what the combined compensation is for Manning. Including what they paid Bristol City to get him in the first place... That's gotta sting?

| Rob Edwards has joined Wolves on 15:33 - Nov 10 by itfcsuth | He admitted in an interview to deliberately getting a yellow card to suspend himself so he could watch the Masters golf when he was player there. Bad enough as is, but think Boro were in a relegation scrap at the time. |
If that’s true, what an absolute doughnut. Of course It’s bad enough doing it, but actually admitting it in public is not the brightest move in the world!
