I know a lot of people were cynical and thought they'd never have the balls to really go after these cheats, but this should finally put paid to that nonsense and provide a huge deterrent for anyone thinking of gaming the system in the future. Oh sorry I thought you said 60 points.

The PL case is being heard. After the decision on that the EFL will decide if they want to take their own case forward. Well that's how I understand it anyway!

Listening to the discussion, it is just the EPL, and his estimate is based on comparison to previous premier league fines (Forest etc). The view I heard previously was that it is EFL who are particularly fed up with Leicester given how they basically stuck two fingers up at them, and while Borson might be strictly speaking correct that the EFL have a decision to make once the PL have done their business, I cant see them saying "yeah, thats enough, you have learned your lesson and are unlikely to do it again"...

Agreed. It's a pathetic 'carry on cheating' pass if true. The game will always be corrupt until cheats get chucked out forcefully.

| Stefan Borson claiming Leicester will probably get on 19:46 - Nov 19 with 807 views | HighgateBlue | This is a prediction. Plenty of people who are reasonably well qualified in different aspects of football make predictions all the time. Many of them are well wide of the mark. Let's not treat this as someone who's in the know about something that's actually happened as a matter of fact. He sets out his reasoning, and he may be right. One factor that I'm not sure he's considered (and I hope it's a point that has been raised in argument) relates to the difference between the EPL and the EFL. In the EPL, there are fewer teams, fewer matches, and hence a points deduction of X points has potentially more impact. So merely looking at previous deductions for EPL teams as a guide is not (in my view) an entirely fair measure. But yeah, those wanting sanctions that are of an entirely different order of magnitude than previous decisions are likely to be disappointed. I hate this kind of rule-breaking, and I would like to see it punished more stringently as a deterrent. However, PSR rules are supposed to be about ensuring 'sustainability'. It would be ironic if clubs are overspending because they can well afford to, but then get such a harsh penalty for doing so that they get relegated, are crippled by their huge wage bill and end up in administration. Whilst you might argue that the punishment would fit the crime, the rules meant to ensure sustainability would have done the exact opposite. | | | |

Unless the logic is they would halve it on appeal?

| Stefan Borson claiming Leicester will probably get on 20:32 - Nov 19 with 617 views | SuffolkPunchFC | It’s all speculation for now. Points deduction, fine and transfer ban have all been ‘suggested’ in the last 24hrs. I believe the hearing and likely decision for the first offence is next week, so now there loads of ‘experts’ giving their ‘considered’ opinion on the outcome. | | | |

I felt my outrage-ometre climbing quickly for a second there. If it ends up as a 6 point deduction it’s not much disincentive at all is it? You’d claw that back through a couple of crap refereeing performances.

In which case deduct 24 points so that halving it on appeal still makes it 12! To be honest, there ought to be clear rules with clear sanctions but it appears a right mess really.
