Zak Crawley has been dismissed for single figures in 41% of his test matches. A really pathetic stat, yet he consistently gets selected!!

Wtf? I get in last night, listen till lunch where we are 90 odd ahead with 1 wicket down. I wake up just over 4 hours later to find we've nearly lost the test already nearly inside two days. Christ on an effing bike England.

A few hours ago I was going to jokingly post a ‘The Two Day Test has arrived’ type thing, but thought nah, don’t be stupid …

Utterly abysmal. 65-1 with a 40 run lead from a low scoring first innings is a match winning position. For your top and middle order to then almost to a man just give their wickets away with loose drives at balls they didn't need to play at is idiocy. I am a fan of Bazball in general but there's times you've got to play the situation. When you lose a wicket,.don't throw another one away immediately. When you've lost two quickly, absolutely do not gift your wicket straight afterwards. Yet we keep doing that. There's nothing wrong with giving yourself a couple of overs of only playing the balls you need to play and only trying to tan the bad balls.

We have been bowled out twice in 66 overs. Its f***** pathetic. Cummins and Hazelwood back next test and we've blown our best opportunity.

| England’s batting simply…. on 09:21 - Nov 22 with 863 views | IPS_wich | If you’ll excuse my rant. My 77 year old Dad arrived in Perth last night. We’ve got tickets for tomorrow - Day f***ing three. We nearly lost him three years ago and we’re not sure if he will have the strength to visit us down under many more times. We’ve been looking forward to tomorrow for months. We’ve got new Town third kits to wear, everything is prepped to go. And because our batsman don’t have a FU**ING clue how to wait for the right ball to score off we’ve been bowled out twice for less than 70 overs and lost a test match inside two days. I will probably never get the chance to watch an Ashes test with my Dad again. To top it all you don’t get a a refund if the game is over. C***s | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Oh mate, I'm so sorry to hear that. That's devastating. Christ, you expect day 3 to be a safe bet to at least see most of a day's play. England should refund you themselves, not that that would make it any better as it's the experience and memories that will be the main loss.

| England’s batting simply…. on 09:26 - Nov 22 with 825 views | stonojnr | Both and it was evident in the first innings too, they kept waving their bat at every ball, and fine some of it was to get after Boland, but there was no thinking of hey maybe we need to just defend for a bit, not chase wide balls. I saw someone online mention an interview Crawley gave in the Times, which ive not read, but he fears not scoring the runs he knows hes capable of, because he fears getting dropped by not constantly attacking more. And that's the attitude the team has its OK to fail as long as you're always attacking | | | |
| England’s batting simply…. on 09:30 - Nov 22 with 791 views | stonojnr | Also how gutted would you be as a fan out there, you've spent the best part of £3000 i think the barmies tour for this test alone was quoting prices like that, travelled half way round the world on a flight that took longer than England spent batting two innings in a test match | | | |
| England’s batting simply…. on 09:33 - Nov 22 with 794 views | woodbridge_blue | It's the first time I have ever heard Jonathan Agnew totally lost for words. I'm afraid we are so deep rooted in Bazball, we have tunnel vision and it's not going to change. How on earth can a team with a 100 lead at lunch lose the game before the close of play? Our bowlers gave everything in the first innings and simply haven't got the energy to do it again. Embarrassing, humiliating, shambolic. | | | |

The no refund is just the salt in the wound. He actually teared up when I told him back in May that I’d got tickets. He’s really good mates with Ray East the former Essex spinner - and it’s all they’ve been talking about in the last few weeks. The only reason we didn’t go today was because he needs a day to get over the flight - mind you I’m not sure being an England fan at the game today would have been much fun.

There is no other opener in the England squad on this tour so his place, on this tour at least, is safe. Its an absolute shambolic state of affairs with this England set up. No accountability whatsoever. I get annoyed and then get over it within a few hours but then I read the post above and then think about the people who have spent thousands to go over there in the name of English cricket and it riles me up again. Joke performance. [Post edited 22 Nov 9:34]

Absolutely ridiculous, it’s unprofessional and stupid. Selectors, Stokes and any others with influence need to ask themselves what would be so terribly wrong with a *modified* version of Bazball? Yes by all means go for it, and entertain where you can, but *also* be circumspect where necessary in order to try and WIN, which they seem to have forgotten is also important to fans (and the nation generally). So sorry for all the fans out there with tickets for tomorrow in particular.

Whether you are a fan of Bazball or not that was utterly embarrassing as an Englishman watching that unfold. They really don’t value their wicket when they bat, they literally throw their bat at every delivery. We are playing Test Match cricket here, it’s played over 5 days, yet our batsmen think it needs to be done in two minutes?! When do our bowlers get time to put their feet up and rest? The last few series Down Under have been shambolic from an England point of view, that today is right up there for p*ss poor performances!!!

And Stokes was his predictable dismissive, arrogant self in the post match chat with Agnew. An extremely poor day all round.

How difficult can it be to get that there’s a happy medium between Bazball and Boycsball?! Gotta question how much they have between the ears.

| England’s batting simply…. on 10:21 - Nov 22 with 596 views | The_Major | The dismissal of the idea of playing a full strength team against the PM's XI in the two day pink ball game before the Brisbane test was astonishing. As Glenn McGrath just said, Brisbane will be played with a pink ball as a day night test. After what's just happened, why the hell wouldn't you want as much practice as possible with those sort of conditions? Imagine the apoplexy there would have been if after the Charlton match a few weeks ago, McKenna said they weren't going to practice anything new to prepare themselves for the West Brom game to give themselves the best possible chance of winning. There'd be pitchforks and burning torches. [Post edited 22 Nov 10:22]
