| Finishers. Other clubs subs 19:38 - Nov 29 with 947 views | FrimleyBlue | For those who watch championship games in general. Do many other champ sides see themselves as having starters and finishers? I just wondered with the apparent change in how tough km feels this league is this season, and how bad his experience was in the prem, has he got to come away from this whole starter finisher concept. As far I can remember ( feel free to correct me here) weve only recently had the hull game where our finishers turned the game our way where as most games we dont really see much of a difference overall With sides sitting back and not burning out as we are too slow in our play to really tore them out are we basically making our finishers redundant and therefore we maybe should begin to have some reflective changes in the match.. HT subs for example. Just curious to know people's thoughts on it really. | |

I had never heard it before McKenna said it but assume it came from a coaching course or something as everyone is now saying it. Like low block. That went from nowhere to being the buzz phrase of last season.

I'm half expecting our under 11 manager to start using it to make the players who get less game than everyone else feel better about it.
| Finishers. Other clubs subs on 18:16 - Nov 30 with 545 views | SomethingBlue | Oxford are one example – it's a huge reason for why they beat us. It's nothing unique to Ipswich, it's everyone really, it's just "having good subs to bring on" when you boil it down. | |

I hate the modern terminology used to appease the American audience.. Low block makes me cringe, it's just defending in numbers. Quarter back False 9 Pivot

Just off the top of my head in home games, we had the Norwich game, West Brom, Derby where subs have contributed and created important goals, then we've had other games where we've come up short that the subs have given us some impetus late in games and helped us create good chances, such as the Watford and Wrexham games.

Our promotion 2 years ago owed an awful lot to the finishers so I'm not surprised that the manager places a lot of store by it

Our subs have scored the most goals, six, and had the most goal involvements, 10, in the division this season. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

As with most stats you could dress this up depending on what narrative you want to go with . Coventry have scored 50 goals for example and most of them goals have came from starters, probably because they start with their best players each game and get the rewards before the last quarter of the game. Maybe I'm old school but I'd start with the best side each game and go from there. I wonder how many different combinations of 4 attacking players we've had this season.

Will be interesting to see whether Coventry see a drop-off over the course of the season or in busy periods if they're taking that approach. I think our approach will see us in a better position in the later stages of the season. I think in both the promotion seasons we ended seasons strongly.

Can't see it. Think they'll get pulled back into the bunch as the likes of us and Southampton get more consistency. If not, they'll fully deserve to romp to promotion.

Yeah, I think they've suffered a couple of injuries in key positions recently so maybe your positivity is well placed. Hope so 🙏
