Bring back SAM MORSY 09:20 - Dec 3 with 2710 viewsArnieM

This is the one player that can bring steel and order to any " team" McK decides to put out. What a mistake to let him go. Yes we tried and he deserved a once in a life chance to secure his family. He's done that, but hes back in the UK. For the remaining season hes a must go get player, in January. It would literally lift the club and dare I say fans.

I don't wish to engage with people who are unable to read the simplest of sub-text, just because I'm not holding their hand and explaining it to them doesn't mean it doesn't exist lol

So because of *your* assumption that I and others don't have the ability to understand subtext or nuance, you not even going to let us try?

Ok then.

There’s absolutely zero chance of that.

What's Morsy said or done that's burned the bridges with the club?

I think that is a mad take personally. His leadership, standard setting and drive on the pitch has been hugely missed for me. I don't think he can come back now as the moment has passed but we'd be in a better position now if he was still around. That is no knock on Azor's ability either.

The guy moved to a nonsense league, and got released after a few games. If he was here he wouldn't be close to the team, i'm confident of that.

Have a re-read through some of his comments after leaving and place them in the context of what went on during our premier league season. It’s not that difficult to work out why he was moved on.

I quite often go with heart over head but not in this instance. Also being really woke there's the rainbow laces thing too, although he does hate Israel.
Soooo conflicted but it's a no!

That ship has sailed. He’d be good backup to Matusiwa, as we do need another destroyer in the squad. But we’d be nuts to drop Matusiwa; he’s been one of the highlights and Taylor/Cajuste are far more mobile.

Besides, I don’t think one individual is going to change things (bar a Marcus Stewart mark 2). We’ve got bigger issues trying to get the four ahead of CM to work.

He didn't in the Prem. Didn't you notice how many games we lost last season?

All those losses has killed the confidence of the players. We lose a game, and last seasons losses resurface in the players brains.

Didnt stop us bringing back Cajuste though…

I fear the subtext to his comments was lost on you and seemingly others, judging by the responses in this thread.

Why do you have to always (or at least regularly) be a bit rude and obnoxious in responses? Like your operating on a higher level to others. I think it's more likely I either didn't see them or there potentially wasn't a massive subtext.

McKenna has spoken about staying in regular contact with Morsy so certainly no issue at all between them at the very least.

I'm not convinced it would be the right thing to bring him back though. Think we probably need to move on. But can certainly see why we might.

*Try giving people a bit more cognitive credit, thanks*

I love the guy, but it’s not happening. The endless threads on this forget one fundamental thing:

All the players he influenced so heavily are gone. There’s nothing to suggest he has any influence over this squad.

Move on.

Not to mention, if it was happening it could have happened already. He’s out of contract, so if we wanted him we’d have already agreed something with him. People need to let this go.

This is a terrible idea.

Not the worst idea he set the standards on the pitch he was always brave to receive in dangerous areas and kept us ticking would rather him than Taylor most weeks

I clearly wasn't paying attention with regards to his comments when he left; but his stance on the rainbow laces and his support for Palestine clearly were not on brand for the powers that be over the pond - so no surprise he was ushered abruptly out of the door.

Matusiwa does many of the core 'football' acts a bit better than Morsy so I don't think there would be an automatic place for Morsy in the starting XI - but we haven't come close to replacing the collective leadership impact of him, Chaplin and Luongo in the squad.

I'm not familiar with the comments referred to either, perhaps someone has a link?
