What's the consensus on him, he's 22 now so not a youngster in the grand scheme of things.

Another loan in Jan? or do we cash in if he's not going to make it here?

Hamstrung by us going out of the League Cup early (along with Baggott). Will hopefully get some action in the FA Cup, to supplement his bench sitting in the Champ.

He’s a victim of our meteoric rise under Gamechanger. I’m not sure he’ll ever get a proper chance here. I think he should move on for the sake of his career. He needs to play at his age.

His contract ends in the summer, though I imagine we have an option and maybe talks are ongoing to extend. He surely needs to play football somewhere over the second half of this season, whether that be loan or permanent.

If we're in this division next year maybe he gets more of an opportunity.

H Clarke, Walton, Burns, Chaplin and Townsends contracts are also up in the summer. From what I can see we've no contracts expiring in 2027, which surprised me initially, but makes sense given the changes in personnel over the last 18 months and 3 year deals.

Will be a loan in January I guess. Huddersfield, Luton?

I can't see him making it here - but he could well be a decent Championship player elsewhere. i think the problem is that in our situation, with the drive the club has for relentless improvement we need players coming into the team that will be an upgrade on what we already have. Immediately. If Cam was good enough to do that he'd already be in or at least around the team. If he wants to break through I think it will need to be with some other team. Sadly.

I wouldn’t object to us taking up an option, but I’d hope that we’d just release him and allow him the pick of clubs.

He’s been here for ages. Never caused any trouble. Done well/ok when he’s come in, but isn’t at the level we need. And it seems likely he won’t be.

Keeping him on our books would seem to damage his career to me.

When you say cash in? How much is he realistically worth for one decent season in L1? A few million?

We are far better off trying to loan multiple times with the hope that he can replicate that season in the champ. At that point he's worth 5/10M.

Makes you wonder why we have gone so big on Cat 1 for the academy when the pathway is very limited

In the future, if we get anyone really promising, we can keep hold of them, either for ourselves or to get a better fee. Our Youth play at a higher level.

The pathway may be limited now - in part because we have had to hire in so much talent due to the swift rise up through the divisions - but that may not always be the case. Players we thought were worth hanging on to in L1 may not be so suitable for a team having been in the Prem and aiming to get back there. But, once established, the youngsters we're getting in as Cat 1 are more likely to be of a suitable level.

Might be wrong, but I think it gives you a great more geographical reach, our available pool we are fishing for talent in is fairly small and has not produced enough players who have succeeded at high level to make it viable as a cat 2 only. If we are going to have top facilities we might as well have top youngsters to justify it.

I remember speaking to his Dad before the Fleetwood away game the other season in Wetherspoons of all places . Genuinely a really nice guy and full of praise for how his Son was being treated . Said at the time that Cam was absolutely loving KMcK's training sessions and was in awe of the way he works.

I just hope for Cam's sake and I'm sure I'm wrong , he's not just in awe of KMcK and the attachment to ITFC rather than looking at his career path

I'm sure sooner rather than later for the guy , things needs to move

A great advert for the modern day footballer IMHO

Needs a permanent move away for the sake of his own career.

KM clearly doesnt trust him, and as you rightly say, hes no longer a youngster.

I hope he gets a good move and does well.

It's going to be hilarious when we get promoted and Walton pulls a Hladky and walks away on a free - I hope we've got that agency who helped us pick Muric ready to go.

Agree with the consensus that his Ipswich career looks very limited. Easy to forget McKenna gave Cam a good run in the winter months of our L1 promotion season, after Evans injured his knee the first time, before Luongo got up to speed. If you're good enough, you're old enough, as McKenna's also demonstrated with Omari and Sindre.

Where I'm in less agreement is on the damage this is doing to his career, training but not playing. Doesn't look clear-cut to me, if he's challenging himself most of the week to meet a much higher standard than he'd otherwise be exposed to. I'd like to think our Monday-Friday is a different level to Wycombe's, without wishing to offend, and that it's offering Cam opportunities to grow still.

I do agree that can't carry on forever probably; if we go up again then he may no longer provide suitable cover to keep in our 25. While he's with us he'll have top-end L1 suitors, but if he continues not to play here then a Championship move looks further away. From a Town perspective, is he considered good enough to take a position in our 25-man squad today? If the answer's yes, would selling him to replace with another be that advantageous, financially or for squad harmony? Moving on Ben Johnson would be, given wages, but I'm not sure it's so clear-cut again with Humphreys.

Appreciate people don't like to see an Ipswich academy lad getting zero minutes though. Gives the impression they're languishing either way, whether they're still improving behind the scenes or they're stuck.

Sadly, thats probably the case. At 22, if he hasn't established himself by more than a small number of games played, I suspect his time here may be limited. Shame, he is a real talent.

Think you're slightly undervaluing what he did at Wycombe over a 42 game season in a good Wycombe side whose L1 performance that year was shaded by our own last L1 season, but not by so much. Likened to Messi by fans while there (OK - in jest, but clearly highly thought of).

Agree that his pathway here looks bleak. Hopefully the club and the lad can reach a solution that plays out well for everybody.

If he were to go on loan to L1 and he didn't end up at Adams Park, the locals here will riot.

Do you mean in the sense that he'll have many Championship takers already? I hope you're right and that is his next move, if not progressing with us. I know El Miz drew similar acclaim from Leyton Orient fans and then struggled at the next level with Oxford, which informs my doubt on where to pitch him next if moving away. Important he plays regularly, otherwise would be the worth of boast worlds.

showcase appearance in the FA Cup in Jan, hope he has a great game and gets himself a loan move within the Championship.

His play last season could've got him a Championship move for sure but I'd assume his stock has fallen since
