Jack Clarke 21:06 - Dec 13 with 638 viewscbower

I so want him to be the player we saw rip it up at Sunderland. I hoped the goals he had notched (largely from the bench) would be the springboard for more sustained and consistent contributions from him. Sadly, my frustration remains. He's certainly talented, capable of great skill and often has a good work ethic but he is so prone to a laxasdasical pass, to running down blind alleys or straight into heavy traffic, to hanging on to the ball too long, and, most annoying of all, not pulling the trigger and shooting but taking an extra and unnecessary touch. My patience with him was wearing very thin today I'm afraid.

Get rid tbh.

Has good feet, but is powderpuff, not quick, not strong, and not quite good enough to impose himself with those limitations.

Even if he ends up having a good season, he does not have the attributes for the prem. And there is no way we can play him and Philogene in the prem.

I like him but Philogene is better and they both play the same position.

The only Muff in Town.

He’s Philogene’s back up for me. He was excellent at Swansea, but they were a basket case. If we can get a decent whack for him and need transfers for FFP, I’d move him on. I don’tnthink we can play Philogene and Clarke together. It never seems to work.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

He's just not got the all round game to be effective. He is PL quality in some areas of his game, and League 2 quality in others. Which means you get a very inconsistent and frustrating player.

He is obviously trying his hardest, it's not an attitude problem, and he appears to be good on the mental side of things (see penalty Vs Derby) but he is getting shown up to be an absolute one trick pony.

I think he's another we would be best off cutting losses on.

He’s exactly why you shouldn’t put square pegs in round holes and why people were picking on philogene last season with McKenna saying he could Play on the right wing when he couldn’t. The same as Clarke is not a right winger and having no left foot cost us potentially 2-3 goals in just this game. He is a good player no doubt but right winger he is not. If McKenna insists on playing him on the right then please some one keep him back for the next 4 weeks and restricting training to playing and shooting left foot only.

The idea that someone cannot play right wing because he is right footed.... speaks volumes for the player's broader limitations.

Maybe he prefers playing on the left and cutting in on his right but I agree with ýour point. Why, if he is put on the right can he not actually go on his right foot on the outside now and again. He seems the definition of a One-trick Pony at the moment.

His problem today wasn't being on the wrong wing, it was that he barely completed a pass and gave the ball away numerous times.

Was a painful watch today, both the decision-making and execution were lacking. What baffles me about his signing is that people at the club thought he could be up to the challenge of the Premier League. Maybe I'm missing something but to me he looks a mile off it.

J Clarke not the biggest problem now though he's an expensive luxury.

Plenty of dross that are not fit for purpose that I'd clear out before him, starting with McAteer, Akpom, Azon, Young, Johnson et al. Hirst can go also.

Useless.

He was truly dreadful today. But not the only one and not the worst.

Very unusual to have so many players have so many poor performances in one game.

Clarke has undoubted ability and is a threat but he’s a fairweather footballer with a heart the size of a hamster’s.

He's nowhere near Prem standard, in fact very few in this current squad are if we’re being brutally honest.

Flashes of talent, largely overruled by underwhelming inconsistency, topped with the physicality of a kid in a men’s game.

He is what he is, a good Championship player, not a great one.

Doesn’t fit our system or style, offload at the soonest opportunity.
