You clearly havent looked very hard sunshine... And for the billionth time.... Us "happy clappers" (which a pathetic expression) actually dont think things are great, also think some players havent been remotely at the levels we hoped and we can be frustrating to watch... But here's the IMPORTANT bit, we can also see we are 3rd, some of our football can be a joy to watch and we still have a huge chance of promotion. Thats why we dont hit this board and social media wetting our panties everytime we dont win. Why this seems to tricky to understand I have no idea.

Some players are just not very good. So we are over-performing to be 3rd? The passing at times is woeful. I agree that we give the ball away too easily too often. We are so boring to watch. Really? You do not enjoy watching us? Wow! We lack creativity up the top end. Not sure I agree with that either. We don't take a shot where we should do too often. We try over-playing it. I think a lack of confidence from our strikers is a big part of this. Some are singling out players and many are talking as if we should be running away with the league. I would love to see what Southampton fans are saying about their team right now.

Even with a new team being built and a bit of frustration at points, watching this side is like watching Brazil compared to repeated 90 minutes of Joey Garner falling over to win a free kick. There was more football in yesterday's game than entire seasons at points at the end of Mick reign. [Post edited 27 Dec 2025 12:19]

Facts don’t care about your feelings as a podcaster once said, the expectation is promotion from the owners and fans who understand football economics, we heard enough about that last year as reasons for our failings. Check the promoted teams since parachute payments have come in, especially over the last 5 years in terms of percentages of teams that have gone back up. The gap is only get wider financially as well. We have also spent serious cash since 2024. Compare this with Leicester, a complete mess and Southampton who have had more managers in a year than most have had school dinners. There isn’t much excuse with our stability and financial outlay and the other two’s failings, even if you are slightly struggling to accept that. We are still in a decent enough position if we can sort a few things out but make no mistake at heights we should be achieving this season. That’s why there is some pressure on it.

Yeah but it's not as good as the Burley team that finished 5th in the Premier league, or the Robson era...... It's a silly argument. Totally different times. You can't just ignore the situation we are in now compared to previous times.

We're in a league where the points distribution is pretty much on par with the median for the past 15 years, so a fairly normal Championship. In the last 15 years the only big outlier was 23/24, and even then only the top 4.

Sorry, that not my point. Just some people keep barking in about 5 points from second, whereas we are closer to 10th. It's not a great point to say at the moment.......

Quite, what is the point we are making here - that the current team is better than one that was put together a decade ago on a shoestring budget?

Maybe not, but's still typical of a Championship season. Very few teams, in even few seasons, have broken significantly clear. Even Coventry are only a couple of points ahead of the median, and way short of what was seen in 23/24. It's very normal to be tight between mid-table and 2nd/3rd, and even relegation and the playoffs. Welcome to a 'normal' Championship season.

If I ignore your double negative, which I think says the opposite to what you mean, I completely agree with you. The first half has been adequate at best, but we have a great chance from here to still secure promotion.

Factually true of course but then it comes down to mindset. It seems there are a growing number of supporters who seemingly can't wait to criticise this player or that player or Ashton etc. Even the most ardent of supporters couldn't say hand on heart they weren't hoping for a little better but unless we're sweeping teams aside week after week, we're just not good enough according to some. Take McAteer for example. Full disclosure. I think we overpaid for him but the player doesn't set their own value. Even during Sitter's Team thread some so called supporters were being negative. The first direct negative post came 30 mins into the match. We saw this last season with Muric and to a lesser degree Philogene, Taylor and Jack Clarke. Philogene scored against Norwich so is ok now. For me football is an opportunity to escape a busy life. I always come to games these days with a positive mindset as a starting point. It seems many supporters are turning up with their minds made up and just can't wait to pounce on the very first misplaced pass or even earlier with the team selection. I always try to understand why people have a different opinion to me. It seems that some who post here have their view and will not even consider what my or others people's views are or even look at things my way, but will just use terms like "Happy Clappers" to dismiss us. If I turned the table and called every negative poster a "bed wetter" I have no doubt I would be called out on it. I don't like how our fan base is polarising these days. I don't like it at all. I sometimes wonder if we'd be better off without KM, without Gamechanger and just go back to being a mediocre second division team where expectations are more realistic and we can just get behind our team.
