| Players going down holding their heads 17:06 - Dec 28 with 562 views | Bramidan | Watching Crystal Palace v Spurs, just seen two separate incidents, one from each team, a simple tackle, no where near their heads and both went down holding their heads. FFS why can’t refs see that a tackle below the knee cap does not warrant the player rolling about holding his head, accompanied of course by one leg beating a rhythm on the turf. | | | | |

And referees are on a hiding to nothing. If they don't stop play, 1% of the time, the player will have a genuine head injury. I wish there was a workable solution. I would let play go on for a bit as most head injuries do not require IMMEDIATE treatment.

Unless there’s blood or someone’s unconscious then play should continue.

Doesn’t really happen in a contact sport like rugby!!!!

All you people who know about statistics, looking at the number of players in all of the professional leagues, how many players have suffered head injuries from tackles? I’m not talking about heading wet, leather footballs with an exposed loathing stitching.

There far to much cheating like that. I hate it and the acceptance of it. Especially by ex-pros. The Sunderland Leeds game was better than this one. Unimpressed by Palace who have been so good over the last year.

They could have live treatment with play going on, I suspect that stops the play acting

Agreed, but a bit tricky if the player is laying down in the middle of the penalty area, as they usually are.

| Players going down holding their heads on 18:19 - Dec 28 with 296 views | Sharkey | I've said it before, the PFA should call this out. These head laws were brought in to protect the members of their union, and all the players do is follow managers' cynical instructions to 'manage the game'. THE PFA should be aware that players are damaging the spectacle that provides the wages of all their members, down to level 5 or 6 or whatever it is. | | | |
| Players going down holding their heads on 18:19 - Dec 28 with 294 views | WestSussexBlue | On a slightly similar side note, why do players feel the need to cover their mouths when talking to each other? Surely there’s nothing that important to hide. | | | |

a good idea, but the holier-than-thou PFA would never admit that some of their members were prone to blatant, cynical play-acting.

I've noticed that these head injuries seldom occur as the defending team start to break forward? They seem only to happen when the attacking team are throwing in cross after cross and building up a head of steam. The fact that such head knocks seldom happen to an attacking player is also rather odd...

They’ve copied that from NFL coaches and it’s quite ridiculous.

| Players going down holding their heads on 19:57 - Dec 28 with 44 views | Swansea_Blue | It’s rife. They just need a slight rule change to say the ref only has to stop the match if there’s a decapitation. I don’t know how you route out the cheaters. You can get a bang to the face and it’s painful for a minute and then you’re fine. Maybe harsh penalties where replays show no head contact would be a good start. Retrospectively 1 game bans for cheating (and call it that, not ‘simulation’) might make them think twice. | |

Football has failed totally to deal with "simulation" or cheating in the past, even retrospectively, so I guess the authorities prefer to pretend it doesn't happen, rather than try to reduce it.
