Coventry were a few players down at Portman Road, and started like a team with great confidence pinging short passes around in a manner Town lack. They also carved some chances. And whilst many will say the game could have gone both ways. Lampard set up all wrong, and they were a team that allowed out attacking quality space - they pushed their defensive line way too high (the opposite of all our recent opponents) and we just ruthlessly punished them. Could have been more than 3.

But am sure he’ll have learnt some lessons and will surely not be so gung-ho.
Town are spluttering and lack belief and fan backing on the terraces.

If my guess was needed to save the world then it would be for a Cov win unstable, honestly, because they're a dominant home force in the country at present, while we've been a middling away team. I'd feel compelled to go with the odds; we have but one world after all!
I don't think this is a "defining" game if we lose it though, not at all. We'll remain best placed of the monied clubs and optimism may turn to the January window, PLUS three VERY winnable fixtures to kick off the new year. If we win it, however, I think it really does have the potential to be so for us. Not to heal any separation between crowd and players, nein too fickle, we've had those momentous wins already and they were promptly archived. But to germinate much needed life into our away performances, where we seem to have lost confidence, personality, urgency, belief. The biggest away scalp on offer in the Championship could act as a welcome reset. |
Yes Smoresy it’s hard to look past their home record and our poor away form. Plus they sound like they’re getting players back from illness and we’re losing some to it.
But hey if rumours are true perhaps Humphreys plays the game of his life and Egeli and Azor click large.

Personally I'd be relieved with a draw. They'll sense an opportunity to put us out of the way and that defeat at Portman Road will be fresh in the minds of their players, fans and Frank Lampard. And the way we're struggling to really turn it on away at the moment.

I think the big difference is that Walton made 3 top saves. Without that we wouldn't have won. We didn't take our chances so it could easily have been more but Lampard saying we showed Premier League finishing is odd. |  |
