With the exception of the last one on that list that looks very difficult (amended as said straightforward which it isnt - d'oh!) [Post edited 31 Dec 2025 17:02]

We will be above the after our respective run of games, More inclined to worry about hull and watford, more watford for the present time,

There’s something wonderful about the time of the season when you start looking at other teams fixtures. Means you are at the pointy end of the table (for good or ill) and the season has really got going.

Only Soton and Preston look likely to give them much bother and are both still winnable. Really need us to do the business and not worry too much about others. We’ve taken six points from Sheffield Wednesday and Coventry recently so you can argue one was a gimme, the other an excellent result from outsider perspective. Either way we did enough to close the gap for now.

Watford is easy to sort. I'll organise another visit to their training ground for work purposes and take some tablets with me (if you get the drift) lol.....think a Thursday visit for away games and Friday for home should do the trick??? Oh, and before anyone reports me, its obviously a joke - but a tempting idea as I do actually need to go back and discuss paddle board courts..whilst having lunch with the team [Post edited 31 Dec 2025 15:22]

| Huge January Ahead on 15:22 - Dec 31 with 863 views | _CliveBaker_ | Boro haven't scored in their last 3 games, although the stats suggest that's a bit unfortunate. I've never been massively convinced they'll stand the test of time or that they're especially formidable, nor I do I think they'll capitulate either. To me they look every bit a squad that'll continue to tick along in the region of the 1.8ppg they have consistently done so far this season, barring something out of the ordinary. Their 2 games following the 6 shared on this thread are both away, to Cov and Sheff United. I don't think its an easy block between now and mid Feb, and its all there for us to overtake them if we can do our bit. We've got 11 league games in Jan & Feb, 6 home and 5 away. If we can win 7 we'll be on track, any more than that and we're cooking. I'd be surprised if 85+ points doesn't get top 2 this season, maybe a couple of points in either direction. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Thankfully it does look a lower points tally this year but time will tell.

I think WBA could be tricky, they are unpredictable at home and could be a banana skin. SB

Hull might run out of steam as they are still under a transfer embargo and can't sign players in January. Watford are doing well but once again not sure if they can maintain it. SB

Derby away isn't straightforward either, especially as Boro havent been scoring loads

I have a bee in my bonnet over Watford too. Ever since they started winning away they've flown up the table and look to have a good mentality too, lots of wins from losing positions Just got to hope they lose momentum Not concerned over Hull or Boro expecting to be well clear of both all said and done. Someone like Birmingham or Wrexham could suddenly go on a tear too. But in general if Ipswich can start to string wins together we're the team to worry about for others.

I don't think they'll pick up maximum points away to Derby, West Brom and Stoke.

I do think it’s become evident though that a lot of teams (including Cov and Boro) are missing key players now. This is where the depth of our squad should be a huge advantage. I remember this kind of period in our promotion season where we were missing key players like leif and Hirst and the drop off in quality of our backup saw us struggling for goals. Really don’t see anyone capable of putting a huge run together outside of the parachute teams, and they are well down the table.

Yup, it does seem like it's all lining up for Town but no chickens being counted this end until we start to pass the eye test a little more.
