Haven’t watched / listened but it’s not that laughable.
If he were sold he’d still probably go for £20m and there’s not many in the league better than him. Maybe one of Coventrys forwards comes close.
Let’s not mistake form for ability.
25 years old. Contracted until summer 28 according to Transfermarkt. 5 goals in 29 USA appearances and generally not first choice for them behind Haji Wright and a couple of others. 8 goals and 3 assists in a team near the bottom of the Championship. Club captain at the start of the season. 15 goals and 5 assists in 32 last season. 16 and 2 in 26 the season before.
So a decent age, reasonable length left on contract and a good goal-scoring record but regularly unavailable through injury. Not considered among the best for USA (could be considered good as wouldn't be away during international breaks generally). I would imagine a club somewhere would offer between 10 and 20M. If he had a better fitness record, I would imagine £20M.
Haji Wright is a couple of years older and went to Coventry in 2023 for £9M. I can't see Sergent being much more than that (although market prices have increased).
On the flip side of that what would you value Hirst at? Would you say Sargent is any better? I would be surprised if any club offered as much as £20M for him right now.

The injury history will obviously be a concern for potential clubs but when we’re talking about who is the best forward in the championship, Sargent will be in that list. To say otherwise is likely because he plays for Norwich.
I don’t think £20m is unrealistic, especially in a January window when everyone wants a striker and prices are inflated. I’d probably value Hirst around 8-10m given he’s a year older and less prolific. Also a questionable injury record.
However Wrexham paid £8m for Broadhead and we paid £11/12m for McAteer so god knows what anyone’s true worth is these days.

£11-15m seems reasonable, depends how much the player wants out, which if Sargent has any respect would be in the desperate category

be fair, without his stellar contribution, they'd probably be in the bottom 3
That's true. His value to them is clearly quite high. They wouldn't want to drop away from the play off places so would be unwilling to sell unless they have the next van Wolfswinkel lined up.
We have two players who have scored more league goals than JS so far this season and neither is a striker, indeed neither always start matches either! Though in the interests of fairness, I get the feeling that he's been " marking time " there for some while

You're not telling me you would rather (or just as happily) have Adam Armstrong, Ivanovic, Thomas-Asante, or several others are you?
Nah I'd have Morgan Whittaker. But Armstrong would score hatfuls in a McKenna side.
I'd also have Sargent. But "best striker in the division" is typical of the myopia that comes out of Norwich, like when the EDP sent a reporter to harass Sven when he didn't pick Robert Green for England.

Duh! It's obvious Sargent has taken his foot off the pedal in order to convince Delia to sell him to Ipswich for £7.5m. He's dreamed of playing for Town for some time, but I rather fear his opportunity has gone now. Never mind. Much better and more robust options out there for us, and the clamour to get a transfer here amongst exactly the type of exciting young prospects we need, plays right into our hands.
Good work by Philogene...... GREAT WORK BY PHILOGENE!!!

Quick question then - so in your opinion Sargent is the best striker in the Championship?
I have been agreeing all along with you!
"You're not telling me you would rather (or just as happily) have Adam Armstrong, Ivanovic, Thomas-Asante, or several others are you?"
A fully-fit Sargent probably is the best. He is still in the conversation as among the best. I can understand ardent nodge fans claiming he is the best, just as some Town fans would say Hirst is despite clearly being off it for a while before he got injured.
I would say the best two are Armstrong and Thomas-Asante.

Ah sorry!
Sargent is good and I'd have him but he's not the best in the division for clarity.
One of Norwich's problems this season is getting overexcited by spending lots of money and bigging up players who have ended up being not a good fit for the Championship and leaving them in a relegation battle.
I also think they are unrealistic thinking they will get £20m for Sargent in this window.
God he's annoying and living in cloud cuckoo land! Ronald is no where near as good as he thinks - if he was they'd not be in the relegation zone. We have players on more goals who are not strikers. Or was he so reliant on Nunez to score? I'd say the form table says there are several strikers better than Ronald

They were only offered around £20m in the summer but the player didn’t fancy Germany , his form has dipped since and his injury record is a major concern , his not premier league class so outside of the PL who can afford him ? Us and that’s probably about it in England , if we were after him £10-£12m and I would take a punt any more move on
