He might actually do better there. One of the problems at Town was he didn't seem to cope well having players of a lower technical standard than he was used to working alongside at Ferguson's ManU (and no mega transfer budget to rectify that). Less of an issue at Old Trafford, even now, than Portman Road in 2009.
The question is whether modern footballers would submit to the kind of old-fashioned fierce discipline he would likely expect. Especially in an era of activist agents and player power. Would probably align well with Ratcliffe's ruthless slash-and-burn approach, tho. [Post edited 6 Jan 10:06]

Would be a poor fit. Keane is an old school manager reliant on good coaches with up to date coaching, tactical and analysis methods, who would want control over playing staff ins and outs. The current model at Man U is a head-coach with all the up to date abilities operating under a Director of Football and the coach would have limited input into player purchases/sales (and in the case of Chelsea, as Rosenior will find, team selections). Not to mention his questionable management methodology and the fact that football has moved on hugely since he was a club manager last time round. It would be a big no from me if I was Ratcliffe. Easy to imagine the sparks flying and tea cups flying unless things went perfectly. | | | |

If he can't deal with the egos of Championship players what chance has he got with Premier League players. Keane was a good but dirty player. Many excellent players have very little man management skills and that certainly applies to Keane. He's confrontational and whilst a manager has to have authority over his players to start treating them like children doesn't work. | | | |
