Was meant to do it Sunday afternoon when I got home but obviously slipped my mind and got reminded by it this morning by a story about the Humber Bridge toll booths closing. Anyone forgot about it this long before and managed to get it paid with no fine? Dot Gov site not much help and only says ‘you may be fined’ if you forget. Not even sure if it’ll be 2 x £35 fines should they come or one. F’sake.

This doesn't sound right (or you've chosen a bad option). I have my credit card resgistered and they just take £3.50 whenever I cross. There's nothing in an account to draw from/top up.

Open an account, they top it up when the balance falls below a set amount, you get a discount think it is around 20%.

I was about to reluctantly pay the fine when I found an email from a couple of months before from TFL saying how they were subject of a cyber attack and some TFL users may have had their personal data taken, the email said they would keep customers informed … they didn’t! .. the next email I had from was the fine… I ceased this opportunity, sent a massive rant email on my appeal … they apologised , dropped the fine and didn't ask me to pay the ULEZ charge either!! Small victories!! I hope you get lucky too and find a way out of it!! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Yep, this is how it works. I have a top up level and the amount to take higher than the minimum as I use the tunnel/bridge sufficiently to not want the risk and hassle of getting fined. We have both cars registered on the account. You do get a discount and it’s important to remember to change your car details if you change your car! I nearly forgot last time. I’ve found the process has worked quite well for me - so far! Even if it’s a liberty that they rip people off by taking a charge at all.
