I thought we were in control for the first 10 minutes or so. Created a couple of chances and perhaps should have scored. Then we started to give the ball away time and time again. Handed the initiative to Sheffield United, who grew in confidence. Conceded two poor goals and bad timing for the second one. Carried on as we left off at the beginning of the second half. The 3 subs had an immediate impact and we grabbed a goal back. But we didn't build on that. The 3rd goal killed us off.

Quite, they had two off the line essentially too and put us under pressure more than once without us really reacting to it well enough.
SWE on the right is unfair on the lad, he’s getting minutes but he’s too slow and predictable out there and looking lost again. Taylor was abysmal and greaves error prone which you can understand, but he offers no outlet down the wing.
When Matusiwa looks bad you know it’s a bad performance. But assuming Szmodics is off it might be for the best. He played like he’d fallen out with Hirst too | |

Yeah, in a mates group message, I said I thought it was dreadful today like worst I’ve seen us this season bad at times. Touch was terrible, chances fluffed, bullied in midfield, constantly giving the ball away, slow to react, the list goes on. Maybe others think it wasn't as bad but I hated the game today.
I’m sure it’s a combination of things, some injuries, missed chances (that were errors from them in the main) and the opposition being in your face but it’s just a burn the tape game and move on for me.
Plenty of evidence for the last few months to suggest we will be fine but we do need to pick it up on the road at times. |  |

Yeah, it was sh1t. Very few players managed even average performances, too many errors and a lack of composure. Sheffield United dragged the game down to a battle and then played after winning that.
As with Leicester going in only 1-0 down at half-time would have kept us in the game, instead a truly dreadful goal to make the second half hard work.

It’s really frustrating how we get dragged into a midfield battle so many times against rubbish teams and don’t compete. Taylor is so susceptible to it and if Cajuste doesn’t have an outlet he can be too.
I’m guessing Szmodics goes this week and we have some more bodies in. Hirst was bad today but he’s got no one to hold it up for and no one running off him. We seem to have fans turning on individuals (if Mcateer played like SWE today he’d have been crucified) and others completely blind to when this team loses all sense of self.
The lack of familiarity and partnerships really costs us in games like this. | |
