We're not signing a striker are we. 10:32 - Feb 2 with 2908 viewsBlueandTruesince82

Have to say that I feel if we really wanted Surridge we could get him. We might have to pay over the odds but we'd get him.

Bamford, hindsight isnt it. Most of said absolutely not when someone suggested him in the summer.

Hirst, form has dropped but we know he can deliver based on the promotion campaign, lets not be too harsh on the lad.

Having said all that, there must be someone out there who can have an impact

What annoys me most in all of this is when people constantly ask 'WHO' and 'there arent many 9's out there'.. This is what scouts are paid to do. We supposedly had been watching Azon for 2 years prior to signing him, what the hell were they watching??

I think anybody planning to stay in today refreshing TWTD and following the circus on Sky Sports News may be disappointed.

Would love us to get someone in, provided it's not a panic or for the sake of it signing, but I'm not expecting it.

I really hope that the club have a plan for a number of scenarios today including a last minute fall back. Signing nobody to help a glaring weakness when we have plenty of money to throw at it would be just negligent.

Don't have much trust in the recruitment team / policy at the club based on previous dealings but hopefully today they will prove me wrong.

Nothing blub about it, i think its a fairly balanced albeit it short post on where we are and why plus my personal feeling that we wont. If we dont, we dont. As I said Hirst has done it before for us at this level. My point there without wishing to resort to a cliche is class is permanent form is temporary

It would be disappointing if we don't add, but not terminal.

Equally, i'd also be annoyed if we ended up with another Gasan Ahadme or Ali Al Hamadi.

people forget that hirst being prolific was never an important part of the way we played, in the promotion season he got 7 goals in 24 starts, this year 6 in 19.

as stated elsewhere, the bigger issue is the lack of goals from the central 10 and the right-side

What goes against Hirst massively however, is that despite 6 in 19, he leads the league in big chances missed (15).

Yes and the rest of the post sets out my opinion on the matter and adds context. A statement of opinion is just that, nothing more or nothing less. Am I not entitled to an opinion a full 8 hrs before the deadline? I think if we were getting one they would be here my now. I may be right, I may be wrong. I'm not going to cry about either way. I am also of the opinion that there must have been someone suitable available over the course of the window, the club may disagree, I'm not going to cry about it if they do. Just my opinion.

Either way maybe it suggests there has been a change of approach and a more.prolofoc striker will be beneficial to the point of necessity for us to fulfil our aims.

possible, it may also be that the lack of goals from the right and the 10 have placed more of an onus on the centre forward.

Yeah, you're perfectly entitled to giving your opinion on a public forum, and people are entitled to give their opinion that you're jumping the gun somewhat.

To say I'm jumping the gun, fair enough, it was early in the day. Calling it a blub though......that may be your opinion but I think it a harsh one.

The OP, which is what I was referring to, was at 10.30am.

I just thought it was a bit early to be complaining/assuming nothing's going to happen (even if it does turn out to be right in the end). I'll be as disappointed as the next person if we don't get anyone.

"Blub" I see as a fairly mild term, and as I say it was only because of your subject title (seems a bit blubby to me, others may disagree).

Just out of interest why do you think we could have got Surridge?

I don't know his personal circumstances / situation, but it's possible he's happy living abroad, enjoying life etc.

Better league, step upmon career, we could afford the fee pretty comfortably I think and his wages. As you say he may be very happy in the States and if so fair play but to my mind you want to test yourself at the highest level possible.

If not thats not a winning mentality in my eyes, nothing wrong with that but to be truly successful I think its needed
