So two tough games, two who flatter to deceive and an elephant up a tree, in that no-one knows how PNE are so high in the league but they are.

| Their forum in meltdown - Boro next on 22:08 - Feb 9 with 1558 views | unstableblue | General feeling that Boro are going to get away and really feeling the pressure from us and Hull Think they’re hoping that Boro will come at them on Monday and a huge win can kick start their form - which is of course terrible Just need to focus on ourselves and keep winning now. Can’t afford any wobbles. A run is needed now. | |

They had a weird spell at Christmas, they were creating but not scoring, they’ve really found form now and some of their wins have been against good sides, including a place we just went and lost. We’ve been been very decent PPG for a while but why do some people get so defensive when we are talking about a rival lol. That was a statement win for them, they have more points than us in the real table. That’s what matters. We haven’t won 6 in a row this year have we? Maybe at home but not consecutively.

We’ve had statement wins too… Cov (twice) and Derby (chasing POs, just won 5-0) in the last couple of months or so.

They could easily have lost tonight. Sheffield United should have been a couple of goals to the good before Boro got going and took control.

I thought it was very decent performance though when you considering Sheffield United’s recent home record. The Blades did have some early openings but so did Boro on the counter. They didn’t give away stupid goals like we did up there, even though it was open and neither side had that much control. Big result for them but it’s not like they are unbeatable.

It was once they got going but the game could have been effectively won by that point, although agree, Boro had some early chances as well. The finishing from both sides was pretty atrocious for the first 15 minutes. Boro are probably the favourites for the title now, but I don't think they'd be in the top four in this division two years ago.

Yeah, very different league. When you watch Boro they look like a good playoff type team really in a more normal year and Hull and Millwall look like decent playoff chasing sides. Everyone has been elevated by a few spots almost, which is why overall, it’s been a disappointing output from us IMO. It won’t matter if we finish in one of the two spots though and I think Saturday has a chance to be one of the games you look back at and say, that was a big moment in our season. I'm not sure whether two years ago wasn't an unusual year and this season is more normal for this division, or perhaps somewhere in between. I'm not sure our season hasn't gone as well as might have been expected given all the change in the summer. We were always going to grow as the season progressed. I reckon us and Boro to win automatic promotion from here.

I’m with you to an extent Phil, I just think there’s been one or two more wobbles and poor performances/results than I would have hoped for. Was never going to be easy but even after settling into the season we still seem to have a Leicester or Sheffield United in us here and there. If that’s mostly in the rear view then all good if we can get another 10+ wins from here we should be fine. I guess if we wouldn’t have had such a poor start while we were still sorting the squad, our points tally would be looking at but more of what we would have expected by early Feb. Took a while to even register a win.

Leeds had the same problem in the season we pipped them, they were playing catch up for much of the season

We’re going to have to beat at least 2 of the 3 around us at home and not have many slip ups. I think we need to hit 86+ to get it done. I don’t love games in hand late in the season either.
