Simon Jordan owns Eni Aluko on Talksport 23:47 - Feb 11 with 2549 viewstetchris

Jordan labelled her not 'particularly enlightening, illuminating, engaging or charismatic' as a pundit directly to her face.

He added that he didn't feel Aluko 'comes across as particularly likeable' and told her: 'The language that you use, Eni, is to me steeped in a sense of entitlement.

'I mean, the sheer weight of the entitlement that you seem to believe that you have would re-sink the Titanic.

I think you've been quite fortuitous. I think because of initiatives like DEI, they've allowed people to be put into positions in the men's game that I don't think they've merited and now that sort of seeds an attitude that you become a stalwart in the women's game.

'And I listened to your observations about Ian, and Ian Wright is in the Ian Wright business.... Ian is not in any shape or form obligated to provide any support structure for you or to give you a sense of entitlement. And your position now as a broadcaster will be determined by the value of you.

'And the fact that people potentially aren't booking you now should give you pause for thought about why they might not be.'

She now claims the reason she isn’t working is because she told ITv she is stepping back from broadcasting for a while

Trying to connect the dots here...

If you're saying it's about race, I can recall bad arguments with tyson fury, Martin keown, Eddie hearn, frank warren, I'm sure there are dozens more on that show.

Tee hee.

Literally owning people is fun.

Literally.

Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

She may well not be a great pundit but there’s a lot of former footballers who are also poor. Are they also box ticking?

As for the dimwit comment - she’s a qualified lawyer so I doubt whether she is indeed that.

Her math's not up to much though.

Of course some people are going to bring race into it just because they can. Its nonsense. She's no good at being a football pundit, and isn't likeable.

Someone like Micah Richards I can't stand, but for some reason, laughing at everything seems to make you likeable.
However, there are many white pundits I can't stand (Keown, SHearer, Murphy etc) In fact there aren't many I do like!

She says silly things, and if you want a white male example, Michael Owen. Where is he now? On some Arab tv channel because no-one can stand him over here.

Comments about her appearance I don't like, nor is she stupid with a law degree. However, she does seem to say stuff without thinking. On the clips i've seem, she says "I agree with Laura's (Wood) comments" (which criticisse her), and moment later saying she disagrees with her!

This is sort of the point though. Those people don't get anywhere near as much criticism but they are on TV far more. There is quite obviously a difference in how they are treated by the wider public.

Give it a rest with the virtue signalling.

She's not liked because she's firstly bad at her job, and comes across as extremely entitled, very self centred and arrogant, things that people struggle to warm to.

Nothing to do with race.

….all pundits get absolute dogs abuse every time they are on the box.

You only have to type their name into Twitter and you can see it.

The ones named here, Murphy, Shearer and Keown get it particularly and it’s not just about their ability as a pundit but often more personal.

The difference is that it doesn’t get the coverage because they aren’t complaining about it relentlessly.

It’s important not to forget that Aluko was dropped because she wasn’t good enough at her job, whether she likes to admit that or not.

I don't particularly care for Alukos personality nor do I think she is a good pundit but we will have to agree to disagree because she has been getting pelters LONG before she said what she did about Ian Wright (which was wrong btw).

It is ok to criticise pundits, Men, Women, Black, White but the level of abuse she has received has been pretty unacceptable over her time on TV and dont believe for a second it has been comparable to Shearer or Danny Murphy. Even now, I don't know who advised her to do that interview with Simon Jordan, or it was her own poor judgement but the whole thing epitomised everything I hate about the world now. A "debate" with one intention only, to get clicks and some viral moments. Nasty stuff.

Some of the points she raises are valid, but where she loses any credibility is in her expectation that she specifically should be the one to benefit.

We have some fantastic female pundits and commentators, and obviously we should continue to extend opportunities to them, especially within the women's game, while appreciating the benefits of having the support and presence of guys like Ian Wright. Unfortunately for Eni, time and time again she has failed to deliver, and her poor performance and sense of entitlement are creating tension and conflict where it isn't needed or deserved. There's no agenda Eni, you're just not as good as you think you are.

But they're not coming out staying they deserve to be on this final or that final because they've played for England X amount of times.

If Keown said "I should be on Sky instead of Gary Neville" I'm sure people would react the same.

Keown gets slammed by Jordan on a weekly basis and gets taken the piss out of. Maybe you don't see it.

Just read your other point about her being criticised long before this. He's been mocked definitely for saying silly things. Google Michael Owen and the silly things he says "If you score more goal, you win" kind of things. He's been mocked to high levels too.

You can't just ignore the context to blame things on race/sex etc.

Possibly they don’t complain because they are frequently still on the telly across various platforms. And Murphy, Shearer and Keown don’t have to put up with the added dimension of constant racist and sexist abuse.

Worth noting that Mark Lawrenson has complained bitterly about not being on the box due to wokist culture rather than simply being rubbish.

I'd argue to an extent the need for pundits really. It's very rare you see a genuinely insightful bit of punditry or a subtle nuance to a goal that you haven't previously noticed. As others have said, usually it's entirely descriptive; 'here's the patten of play that lead to the goal, you'll note X made a run, was found by Y, who crossed to Z to score'.

I'd be interested to find out how many actually watch the punditry when watching a live game or MOTD. Personally, I either fast forward if recorded or go make a cup of tea. Just watching the highlights from a half with no chatter is preferable.

Anyone who can't see what this is about is deliberately choosing to ignore the obvious. And that's quite telling.
