Its positivity calm compared with Facebook.

Every defeat (or even draw) is met with vile abuse at the players, McKenna, Ashton or virtually any aspect of the club.

Its really pathetic

It wasn't even this bad during Keane, Jewell, Mick, Hurst, Lambo nightmare!

Everyone has been totally spoilt or else they skipped the nightmare years and are irritated their gloryhunting occasionally interrupted.

Mix of both I reckon. It's certainly not like the positive posts giving ME credit for saving the club, just as a tree was growing on the roof of the ground and the club was in free fall.

Quick poll: What proportion of the rarely seen (if ever) posters who crop up with apparently mouth-frothing, vitriolic posts the morning after we have either unexpectedly lost or (for obvious reasons) thrown a game are:

A. Genuine Town fans who don't get it but feel obliged to come out of the woodwork now for some peculiar reason.

B. Masturbating budgie trolls.

I'll go for A:B - 20%:80%

May be too generous. Poor sods.

Good work by Philogene...... GREAT WORK BY PHILOGENE!!!

I'm starting to think it's a societal shift to where everything has to be one extreme or the other!

Win - we are fantastic, Lose - the players and manager are a disgrace
Left Wing Politics Vs Right Wing Politics
Bourbon Biscuit Vs Hobnob....ok not that.

Social media/behaviour online is just all a bit vile. Peoples inner rage child comes out

Hobnob Obviously

Other than a couple of the retro pages on Facebook, I don’t go anywhere near the ITFC pages.

Full of absolute weapons.

sadly I think the proportion who would label themselves "Town fans" is probably alot bigger than youve estimated there.

I was initially surprised by how much people were moaning about it this morning (let alone last night), then I remembered no thats the new normal every defeat is the end of the frikking world to some of these lot.

theyre just idiots, theyll wake up one day and realise this was one of the greatest periods of Towns history in their lives, they were just too self absorbed looking for god knows what, they didnt notice.

Issue is that in order to be heard in the social media/online environment, you have to shout louder than everyone else and always be on the right side of the argument for your readers. Also helps if you have a particular hobby-horse you can bang on about and get known for.

All that has a natural tendency to push people to extremes and away from compromise. If you allow your USP to get diluted, you will drown in the flood of competitors.

Social media status is important to the young, particularly. That urgency, plus lack of life experience, naive ideas and little learnt empathy - combined with a high understanding of the technology and systems - can come across as raw and irrational aggressiveness.

On the empathy front, the separation and inability to see emotional cues (which you would not get in face-to-face) create a coldness and detatchment which almost encourages harsher language than otherwise. I do wonder if the increased diagnosis of mild Autism is actually young people who have never had the chance to learn "normal" social interaction (not helped by a chunk of Covid isolation in their childhoods/youth).

Good Lord! Whatever is it?
