Taylor, Matusiwa and Neil. Win the midfield battle and recycle the ball to our forward players.

...is that we'd then only really have two attackers on the pitch. (plus whoever plays as the "CF") It'll never happen. The closest we would go would be to have Nunez as the 10 rather than Mehmeti.

| Matusiwa on 21:33 - Feb 16 with 2510 views | RetroBlue | Well, I hope McKenna has taken some notes tonight from Lampard on how to beat Boro in the midfield battle. Because thats where Coventry have won this game tonight, but out-muscling Boro in midfield, and not by just one player getting stuck in, all of Coventry midfield have got stuck in.... | |

Get two men to stick to him like glue the entire match, problem solved. Or do it the nasty way.

He's been forced to play most of the game in his own half.

Yep, said exactly the same to my son watching the first half. In addition Coventry were pretty robust in the challenge in that first half particularly. But yes, it does seem to boil down to stop Hackney and you’ve gone much of the way to stopping Boro

Not particularly. A better parallel would be stopping Matusiwa/Nunez - which does severely damage ourability to play.

It can't be denied Coventry were well worth their 3 points tonight weren't they. Well up for it for a " must win game". And really, I question does our squad have that quality in it? Im honestly not so sure....

Except that we comfortably beat Coventry twice. Which were equally "must win" games in this context.

| Matusiwa on 07:41 - Feb 17 with 1298 views | TownieRob | He will perhaps win lots of ball in the middle of the pitch however he will need plenty of help to ensure we have a 'field day' in midfield once we have the ball. Matusiwa doesnt and won't hurt teams on the ball. You could say that isnt his job though. | | | |
| Matusiwa on 08:20 - Feb 17 with 1098 views | OldFart71 | Yes Coventry nullified Boro midfield but the win was a bit more than that. Having a goalscorer certainly helped. Boro also didn't seem to like the long punt downfield by the Coventry keeper either. I hope when we play them that both Nunez and Philogene are fit as that does seem to be a situation where Philogene starts and once around 60 minutes the opposing team starts to tire we have Clarke to bring on. I don't think Clarke then Philogene works as well as Philogene then Clarke. | | | |

Um, from what I saw they were absolutely battered and mugged Boro on the break whilst really riding their luck at the back. Our squad has ten times the quality that Coventry's has. I think it may have been a good result for us last night if it derails Boro's momentum. Coventry had one helluva lot of luck earlier in the season and are dodgy defensively. They've been found out and this won't help them much, for long. Your post is absolute cobblers! In every single way. Why.

and morris. Hakney is key, but Morris has also been a incredible player for them this season.

| Matusiwa on 15:51 - Feb 17 with 392 views | Nutkins_Return | This is ridiculous. I mean I would love you to be right but my thoughts: 1. He's not a 'field day' type of player. He's an enforcer, breaking play up guy. So at best it's more a case of him being really important to do that job against them. 2. They have been the best Central Midfield in the division. I didn't even think they were bad or Cov did really completely stop them. They created some good chances they didn't finish. 3. Ref did them no favours. I credit Cov game plan to rough house them but another ref stamps down on that. Was baffling how many fouls he let go. Rudoni should AVE been booked a couple of times (not saying red because he did more because he wasn't booked). 4. Underestimate Morris and Hackney at your peril. Brilliant partnership. We can beat these for sure but it will be a tough game. | |
