For me as a little nod to my mum and a happy childhood memory, the first is always sugar and squeezed lemon juice. Hard to beat that. After that, the next (Mrs C makes small ones so we can try different things) receive a sprinkling of sugar and a generous drizzle of Cointreau.
Works better than most other things including limoncello which just didn’t work. She had a couple with hazelnut cream liqueur which she enjoyed.
