We the fans 13:50 - Feb 22 with 2851 viewsipswichske

Two seasons ago, Jamie Carragher, unlike other pundits, said that Ipswich wouldn't fall apart because the board, manager, and players had complete confidence in each other and the full support of the fans.
Without this support, many off these amazing comebacks would never have happened.
But if we win our two games in hand we'll still have everything in our own hands with the home game against Middlesbrough.
If every fan fully supports the current team, as they did two seasons ago, then I'm certain the only question won't be whether Town gets promoted, but who gets promoted with us.

It’s getting a bit boring blaming the fans for the team not turning up too frequently. That squad got more support because they were overachievers and always gave 110pc for Town. Only the most blue tinited amongst us would suggest the current squad are performing at anything like those levels. Whilst we do have games in hand, we simply aren’t showing any evidence of performance consistently away from home. I thought we’d turned a corner at the CBS but its played out to be very much an outlier.

….my row overall were poor too.

We discussed it at half time and rallied briefly, but overall we were disappointing.

We take full responsibility for all 5 goals conceded.

We move on.

I do feel and I do include myself in this, is that Woolfie, Leif, Chappers, Burns, Broadhead, Hirst Sam Morsy and Harry Clarke gave us fans far more of a togetherness vibe. We were all in it, win lose or draw. There was a brotherhood , a camaraderie a connection. I just don’t feel it this time and I don’t think the players feel it amongst themselves or from us fans either.
I would lay money on the fact that this is why Hirst is a shadow of the player we know he can be.
I hope of course we go straight back up but another part of me wants to see a team that grow together and deserve a promotion on their CVs. This group for me, is far less likely to stay in the Premier League than the class of 24. We would need another season of bedding in players, building relationships and an everyone being all in. For the first time, I’m starting to wonder whether Kmc will leave that job to someone else come May.

Probably why I failed to perform.

By the time we play our second game in hand the situation will likely be different one way or another.

Poll: Ok gut feeling then, promotion?

I wouldn't take any notice of Sitters. He was seen texting on his phone rather than watching the game.

These kinds of comments are becoming a bit paradoxical imo (nothing against the OP btw) and here's why. Our record at home is far superior to our record away - while this season at least - you could say the opposite for the support and atmosphere, away support being mostly superior to that at Portman Road overall. So if players really do take note of the support during the game, they should be right at it away from home. Unless their bus trip to away games consists of solely reading negative comments on social media as a game prep.

Out of interest, why the down arrow ernie? A realistic opinion I thought.

It still took two years to get that together vibe.

Just a certain type of fan who can only fathom blame to be the referee's fault or our own support.

Spot on, other than Leeds away I don't recall many poor performances from that team. £150-£200m later we are worse that's not down to the fans.

Do people really believe this stuff?

We came back in games due to the team/setup/performances. Teams were "scared" of us coming back. Nothing much to do with the crowd.

The poor performances this season are not much to do with the crowd. We're pretty good at home.

We haven't won a game from losing the first goal? That's pretty poor, and its not down to the fans/crowd.

Not quite. I'd say the vibe was there from probably the Charlton game of the League One promotion season, which was 17 months after McKenna took over. We took that crest of a wave and basically rode it to the Premier League.
