What will be worrying is that Watford, on their day, can blow teams away too.
Either we go there with a mentality to control the game and protect our lead if we have one.
Can we close a game from a winning position.?
Or we get dragged into a scrappy game and carry on with trying to play football in our own half with our defenders .
The mistakes and weak marking have to stop.

On Saturday we did enough to win the match but threw it away by conceding soft goals.
We lost to Wrexham which is poor.
We lost away to 6th in the table which isn't as poor.
If Southampton, Leicester, or Derby were 6th and had beaten us on Saturday 2-1 it would probably not have been as badly received.
Ultimately, though, we need to be winning a few more games than we currently are. |  |

Two draws would have been poor. Needed at least four points from Wrexham/Watford. For me it’s a game we have to win to keep in the automatic promotion hunt. I know some keep saying it’s too early for ‘must win’ games - but those 15 remaking games come thick and fast and we really have to win the two games in hand. It’s a big ask. Yes. But deep down we know where Tuesday is going. When we last played that fixture last time we had to fight our guts out for a result. We had Morsy. Now we have on psper a more talented squad, with a much poorer team ethic. We had Morsy. Now we have Colgate Ultra Brite OShea. No comparison. [Post edited 23 Feb 8:49]

I think the Wrexham game which was well prepared for btw, was a test of character, and the team failed miserably.
There's lots of statics jabber on here and " if" this and "if" that happens, X will happen. But the hard simple fact is we are 4th. We have 2 games in hand. These do not equal points in the bag, but they are " must win" games. When do we ever win these must win games though? This team/ squad has no resilience and rarely gets in the face of adversity let alone compete with it.
But for those who enjoy the stats approach to the game, fine, enjoy, your xG stats, chances created?....and missed. The only stat that matters is our league position. We're 4th and haven't looked remotely like challenging for the top two all season. Unfortunately Im not expecting that to change. |  |

We came back twice against Wrexham and went on to take the lead if that isn’t competing I don’t know what is.
Sadly, due perhaps to lack of leadership, we let it slip. We have more talented players than two years ago but we don’t have a better team fighting for each other. Perhaps it is time to rest O’Shea, or KMc to rethink his approach, allow players more freedom and if it isn’t working have a plan B. [Post edited 23 Feb 9:18]
