There was a match in one of the promotion seasons where the referee was known to be a fan of one of our fellow promotion challengers. MA brought that to the attention of the league and the referee was switched. I don't think there's a ground just because the referee is a bit crap. It's something I was bemoaning with a chum post-match on Saturday - there's no effective way that clubs can protest against poor officiating, as the outcome will only ever be a points deduction for failure to fulfil/complete a fixture.

| No more Mr Busby on 17:39 - Mar 9 with 1012 views | Radlett_blue | All referees make mistakes. Mr Busby made several on Saturday, not all of which were against Town. Unless there is some real evidence of systemic bias or corruption, there clubs should not be able to influence which referee is appointed to their game. This is a slippery slope towards actual corruption of officials - see the Juventus scandal. | |

Not just Saturday. My match report poem after the Preston game was all about the ref (it was actually called "Writ Chefs") and I was thinking I'd have to write something similar after this one... before I even realised it was the same ref! He denied us a last minute pen in that game too. He's either very incompetent or he has a problem with us. Either way, with the refs association even admitting to his mistakes, they should, through simple common sense, keep him away from officiating a game we're involved in.

TBF, that was probably for Barry Knight's safety more than anything.

Just supposing Kipre had already have been booked and the second red meant he was sent off. We not only would have been denied a potential further two points but would also have lost a player for the next game. Of course there's also the situation regarding the fact that if we were to miss out by two or three points and we didn't get promoted via the playoffs the consequences are huge as we lose a huge amount of money and possibly a few players also. All conjecture I know. If my Uncle had been a woman he'd have been my Aunt. Potentially ?

PGMOL should be reviewing the performance of every official after every game. As they think Mr Busby missed at least 2 penalties, he didn't have a very good game so he needs to improve or should face being demoted. The good news is that Keith Stroud retired from refereeing a couple of years ago. The bad news is that he is now a referee coach at PGMOL.

I'll never forget his dramatic pause and slow point for the late penalty for Rotherham two years ago. It was both hilarious and enraging at the same time.
