No. Still twists and turns to come. We can't do anything about Middlesbrough but they will drop points (if they don't then fair play to them they would truly deserve to go up) and we need to get back on track with playing on the front foot FROM THE OFF on Saturday and then knock Millwall off their stride.

A dent in the push for sure, Boro and Coventry showing no signs of slipping up, and if that is the case we will have to say they thoroughly deserve to finish in the automatic positions.

Plenty from the previous four games to suggest it is possible. And this is the Middlesbrough that before their last two games hadn't won in 3 and previous that hadn't won in 4, dropping points at home to Blackburn, Oxford and Leicester.
I honestly have no idea how this is all going to pan out, but it is extreme to say that there is zero chance of us winning games and Middlesbrough losing them off the back of a couple of draws, however they came about. [Post edited 10 Mar 23:18]

I’d fancy the 2024 team over this year’s in a three game play off. Although it would be peak banter era if the inky game we win by coming from behind is the play off final.

I think our problem is that we have to many poor individual performances mixed in and around our good ones.
Tonight for example clarke was shocking
Mehmeti was non existent first half
Taylor was awful
Azon spent more time on the floor than off it
Go back a bit we had the oshea nightmare show
In between we have some incredible wins and the top two is back on. But theres simply no trust in this side imo that it can put on the run that would be required.
The form since Sept was good enough for top two.. but the opening month of the season meant that we needed to be even better than we have been and imo thats a burnley level champ winning side and we just arent simply that.
So yeah I think top 6 finish for us. Unless boro and millwall go on an incredibly bad run. |  |

I’m not hugely convinced the mixture is quite there with this group. It’s just not quite working whether that’s players, tactics, mentality im not sure tbh.
It’s been a less than stellar season, if I’m honest I’ve not been too captivated by this season it’s all been a bit meh for me.
Top 2 is done for me, I think there’s more slips in this team and I don’t see the other 3 throwing in too many results to allow us to capitalise.

Neither azon nor Hirst have shown they are good enough this season. Yet we turned down the option of buying another one and then havent tried another option.
Christ even egeli may have become an answer.
Clarke is a massive problem at the moment. On his day one of the best players at the club but a central figure he is not. He needs to be out wide. | |
