| Anyone else concerned that Southampton are putting themselves in the mix on 17:01 - Mar 21 with 1289 views | Dubtractor | They would need to make up 8 points, 9 with the goal difference, in 8 games. No chance of top 2. Wouldn't want to face them in the playoffs though! | |

Agree. Even if they took something like 18 points from the 21 left we would need to take 12 or fewer from 8 games for them to pip us. As you say if we do that, we’re almost certainly behind at least 1 of Boro / Millwall.

If we lose to them, the gap is three points, if all other results are the same and we lose our game in hand. They have a sniff of a chance. Tough but not impossible.

Hull's form is inconsitent to say the least. Southampton have hit it at the right time. I think my reaction to dropped points now is, fair or not, I feel other teams will have more about us in the play offs. It's top two or another year in the Championship, at least. And we'll only have ourselves to blame if that is the case.

Because in the last six games Southampton have gained 7 more points than Hull.

Concern is different to worry. I'm not worried. There is no emotional reaction by me to the state of play. But I think Southampton are putting themselves in the conversation for top 2. It's still in our own hands, as it is Boro's (Millwall's goal difference puts it out of their own hands imo) whereas Southampton need to rely on other dropping points. With us playing Millwall and Boro, Millwall playing Boro and us, and Boro playing Millwall and us, there is potential for dropped points as we saw today.

Basically the same thing. My post wasn't aimed at you personally. Just wish we were more positive. 8 games left. Two weeks to recover. Siege mentality for the last month. It really might play into our hands especially if we can get a win against Birmingham and Boro/Millwall draw. None of us wanted it to be this close but we are in a decent position. This is hopefully where squad rotation will be key.

siege mentality does not really tally with free-flowing patterns of play. Going into a defensive shell is the last thing we need. Though some better defending would be nice.

| Anyone else concerned that Southampton are putting themselves in the mix on 18:53 - Mar 21 with 641 views | WestSussexBlue | I said a fair while back, they were one to watch. I do think they’ve too much to make up as regards Second place, The form they’re in however I wouldn’t fancy facing them either in a Semi or Final of the Play Offs. | | | |

You know what I meant. A month of closed ranks. Eat, sleep, train, travel, play games, recover and repeat. Taking little notice of any of the outside noise or the fans losing their minds every time a pass is misplaced.
