This whole situation should also serve as a massive warning and lesson to our local press and dare I say TWTD to not just take what the club say at total face value. Clearly the club are the ones in the wrong but the reporting on Tuesday and push back at people suggesting the no official involvement line wasn’t right now looks totally ridiculous.

Accidental down vote, sorry!

Completely agree.

Phil, do you have any inkling at all all about what the clubs nect move will be?

Surely they have to say something before the weekend. Its bordering on ridiculus now or do you think so much is going on behind the scenes, potentially with legal ramifications they can't.

Even then, can't they state something like the club with be making a futher statement in due course. The silence is baffling.

Not precisely. They obviously have to start rebuilding bridges.

Appreciate you can only go so far Phil.

However, if you can, do you reckon they’ve brought in any external comms expertise here. They’re clearly so far out of their depth with this one, and haven’t been able to respond in a functional way to date.

Surely they’ve recognised this?

Yeah fair enough mate.

Not gonna lie. This episode has actually selfishly been something thats helped me get through the last few days. My heads an absolute mess as I await the inevitable so many different thoughts and emotions. So its helpful in a sense that theres been something to really help me vent out some of that anger emotion.

Thank you for checking mate.

I’m glad you’ve used the football club is a distraction or something else to think about. Those things are important.

We all have our ways of dealing with things. That you care and you love are the very bedrock of your strengths of which you will have many.

There is nothing selfish in distractions like nonsense at a football club. In fact for your well-being they are very important. So vent away if you feel the need. This forum can be toxic and too often is. But it can also be cathartic.

Do not forget the basics. Your health (nothing will work unless you look after yourself), family, what needs to be done for your dad and taking it a day at a time.

I’m obviously no expert but like many on here have the t shirt. So take care.

that could take quite some time and don't think is possible Ashton in place.

Considering its international break the silence is crazy, i could perhaps understand it if we were in the midst of a game week. I mean they must know the depth of feeling and outrage this is causing. Entertaining Farage at Portman Road is one thing, but even supporters who werent that bothered by it are getting pi ssed off with the subsequent lies and lack of comment.

The problem is that in certain industries, such as modern football, comms experts do not help navigate a descaling or route to re-communication with press or fans, but instead strategise on silence, NDAs, control and management. Tonight at an event I was in fact talking to someone present at the takeover of Newcastle and how, as a media person, they were extremely controlled and managed on narrative.

It used to be the way that PR would advise on all kinds of strategy, but if Ashton or the club got a football PR comms team in now it would, I think, not help in any way that we or Phil want it to.

The lunch absolutely took place. Staff members at the club saw it. How the club can think they could keep that quiet i dont know.

It is why the club have to make a statement syaing what they believe are untruths reported by The Athetic. They are acting disgracefully to the supporters currently. Its beyond riduclous now.

What ever your view point, poitical persusasion etc, the club are treating each and one of us with conplete disrespect.

I haven’t lived in Suffolk for 30 years and even I knew about the lunch…

How on earth in a small town did they think they could keep this quiet? And then to lie about it…

Beggars belief - the senior management there clearly now have their heads so far up their bottoms they can’t see the wood for the trees.

In today’s litigious world if what the Athletic and other news media published were pure poppycock then I am sure the Club would have their lawyers issue a cease and desist letter at first notice. The deafening silence means there’s some truth in these reports and that the Club has been caught with their pants down

A penny for Andy Warren's thoughts.

And I wouldn't be surprised, given their friendship, if Stuart Watson doesn't know much more than he is able to disclose, having been informed on a confidential basis.

How has Ashton got this so wrong ? Yes he is a bit Brent and bit slick and slimy at times but he seems to be a guy who knows how to use the media to his advantage, this is amateur hour and then some.

It truly is staggeringly bad.

He’s also a man who thought the photographing the dirty dishes story sounded good.

Get away out of that

100%.

As I said above, I haven't lived in Suffolk for 30 years and even I knew the lunch happened and that Fuhrage was greeted with hugs all round by Marcus Nash upon arrival (as did anyone who happened to be standing by a window in the council building at the time)

So of course he knows the truth I'm sure and that's probably why Mark Heath wrote such a sh1tty piece in the EADT yesterday. They knew they'd been lied to and that MA was taking them for mugs.

Where was the lunch? Was it at the club? Farage loves a free meal, and a lot of politicians do of course. I can see us not being expensive enough for his pretentious tastes though.

In the Chairman's suite. Staff were visibly upset that he was clearly being welcomed and entertained by the club.

There are clearly lots of people who claim to be in the know that clearly aren't, including the locla press,

Anybody who has spent any time at all talking with Ashton, or the U.S owners should know full well what their political allegiances are, they do not keep it hidden!

The fact that The Athletic revealed far more info than this board, or the local press, speaks volumes.
