Controversial thread designed to attract attention 15:39 - Mar 27 with 1948 viewsgrow_our_own

I know almost everyone wants Ashton gone for politicising the club and then lying about it, but I have a "devil's advocate" view. I know there are around 20 similar threads like this, but I won't receive as much attention if I just add to them. So I've decided to start a new thread that starts as follows.

I'm no great fan of Reform, but have you considered that Mark Ashton once came across a goose, and *didn't* say boo to it?

Plus, I'm no fan of Nigel Farage, but we wouldn't be having this conversation if MA had held a publicity event for the Green Party, made ITFC officially anti-NATO, and decked the tunnel with "Polanski 10" shirts.

Switching to a leadership team that doesn't use the club as a Reform promotion vehicle will be too distracting for Kieran and the team. The best thing to do at this stage of the season is to pretend this week didn't happen, and get behind the team! All as one, and one for all!

I know I'm going to get downvotes and negative replies for this, but I've stayed in the silent majority for long enough. Glad I could get that off my chest.

You've posted loads on this subject, in what way are you the silent majority?

I know I'm the silent majority because I've spent the last four years conducting my PhD thesis on this subject. It includes detailed, peer reviewed, empirically evidenced research. The title of the thesis is "I Reckon".

Exactly. and why would polanski do the same?

you're getting there. but generally humour works better when you do some of this work yourself.

He suggested putting on a shirt to grow your own chest?

Humour tends to work best when the person attempting to be humours says something funny. I wouldn't quit the day job just yet, but wish you every luck in any future attempts at humour. Its not for everyone, so don't feel bad. x

so polanski claiming to be able to increase the size of breasts you have no problem with. but a joke involving a shirt with his name on doing the same is just taking it all too far. tough audience.

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

Minus seven down votes in this thread now! You lot clearly can't handle the truth about Ashton and his politeness to geese. Now you've forced me to post further messages repeating much the same as in my first one, and to get into ad hominem, off-topic, back-and-forth about whose wife has left who and who's too scared to get out of bed to confront burglars.

As an aside, it's weird that this is the only thing people ever pull him up on. I'm far more concerned that he used to be a lib dem, personally.

You say that, but nobody has addressed my point about Mark Ashton not routinely saying boo to geese. Until someone here provides evidence to the contrary, whether Mark should be considering his position should at best be 50/50.

You see. I knew it. Great replacement! Great replacement!

One silver lining if Mark Ashton is sacked and is made a minister in Nigel Farage's government (which I wouldn't support btw), is he'll ban Shakira in all its forms.

"stayed in the silent majority".

Why, if you are all silent (apart from you now), are you convinced that you are the majority?

And, if the majority are silent, would you agree that the rest of your majority don't care. Can you learn to empathise with those that do care?

I am quite sure I would be able to empathise with those who would have had a problem if this had been Zak Polanski or Jeremy Corbyn making political capital out of our club followed by the CEO lying about it.

Why would anyone not get behind the team?

There are many on here threatening to boycott the club completely. Now that’s about as far away from backing the team as you get. The club has fecked up, not the team.

Again, I know the majority agrees with me that Mark Ashton likes geese so any other considerations should be secondary. Studies have shown, and I dedicated a chapter to this in my thesis, that the silent majority are capable of transcendental telepathy. If you've not come across transcendental telepathy before, it's like regular telepathy, but hidden from those who aren't silent. A bit like the dark web. You have to be a member of the silent majority in order to access TT, otherwise the access protocol fails.

Certainly nothing wrong in getting behind the team, they have nothing to do with this issue, neither as far as I know does KM. As for the rest, I guess it's up to every individual to make up their own minds about the situation.

The "Polanski" narrative that a subset of posters are pushing on here is very weird.

He seems to be the new Corbyn in terms of overboard attacks. The media and online commentators will be heavily gunning for him now the Greens are being seen as a threat. So I’m assuming people who are exposed to those sources are reflecting that higher level of attention and criticism. At a guess. I can’t imagine it comes from nowhere.

He's quite a friendly, nice guy.
In the long run, I don't think it will be helpful for the Greens to be mediated around one person, because as you say it becomes easy for right-leaning media to strategically pick them off, but instead (as is the Greens approach to policy making and constitution) instead form a strong network who are recognised within media and population. I think that will be easier after the upcoming elections.

However, as I said, I have met him and he's friendly enough. But then, I also organised three public Labour leadership hustings back in the day and met Corbyn a few times and he was one of the most personable and pleasant people I met (which I have to say was not the case of other candidates who barely acknowledged me) so I guess in the eyes of some on here i am not worth having an opinion because I am not "apolitical" or some kind of snowflake leftie who doesn't subscribe to hate and mistrust as a dominant ideology.
