as you know, it takes very few shouty people online for something to get picked up by the media. it's an easy way to fill space - the shouty people provide nice shouty quotes and the 'journalist' doesn't even need to move away from his or her screen. the journalist can even be in another country. all media loves shouty controversy - they cover it just because of the controversy not because of the number of people doing the shouting. even ai could write that sort of content.

you got on your highest of high horses and what you've discovered is that it's basically just you and the usual ones who pile into every thread with you. it really could be a dawning of realisation for you, but it won't be.

anyway, footy.

That's hugely dismissal of the effort put into a number of non-PL podcasts that covered it. Have you even listened to any of that content over the season? It's incredibly well researched and highly knowledgeable.

You seem to post just to be as contrary as possible nowadays, from your bubble, whilst accusing everyone else who disagrees with you of being in a bubble.

Oh, and after the match, win, lose or draw, I will repeat my call for Ashton to go. As I will continuously until he is gone.

He is a stain on our club.

Agreed, ASHTON OUT.

Anyone who doesn't realise how divisive Ashton has made this need only look at the number of people who care enough to downvote and upvote a simple statement of Ashton out (as I doubt any are downvoting that it was a great result).

Ashton out! If you want to unite the fanbase, join me in wanting him out!

Divisive when mentioned on a forum and people can give a one click opinion.

The vast majority of votes on both sides have made their opinion clear repeatedly.

How do you know that all the ‘fanbase’ want him out? What evidence do you have of that? A percentage will support Reform, a larger percentage will not or quite frankly don’t wish to mix this football club and going to a football match with politics.

Plenty will think that MA had credit in the bank, some will think it’s a lot of nothing. Others will view it as naive, plain stupid, badly handled you name it so ‘uniting the fanbase’ around your view might not be as easy as you think.

I got no sense of mass anti Ashton or anti anything hysteria at PR and had a seat neighbour wanted to talk about it, it wouldn’t have been with me. None of my chums have mentioned it nor even has Mrs C.

ITFC got a mention in the objection to Farage’s proposed match attendance at a Sunderland game but around the unhappiness of supporters having NF use the club, the poor decision to allow a politician in and the potential negative effect on sponsors, players and staff etc. the snow job and lies didn’t rate a mention.

My two mackem mates who are very much the other end of the oar from Reform haven’t mentioned it. It’s just not on the radar for them.

I have expressed my view on the situation, NF and the CEO. He will be gone or sideways’d in the summer as of course McKenna will be.

Today should have been about enjoying the result. Blokes on a football pitch supported by a couple of thousand supporters and thousands more in pubs, in front of the tv, radio. A fun couple of hours. In a world of such threat and impending disaster, the least of which will be economic, it would have been nice to just focus on that for a few hours and enjoy it.

But nope, you can’t leave it alone. You are not alone. You win, I’m done on here for now.

You're saying it's divisive. I am saying it's the same small sample of posters who are firmly entrenched in their positions and have argued it to death.

Unless you think there's not a huge majority in the couldn't care less camp? Fair enough if so.

Where have I said all the fanbase want him out? It is clear that isn't the case. There are multiple posters on here saying they want him in.

Who said I expected to unite the fanbase around my opinion? I don't get why you are claiming that one either.

I don't see the relevance of your other paragraphs either. What is the point you are trying to make? Perhaps it's in the context of your misunderstandings above.

Ah, I got you. You are saying most people don't care at all.

Which is quite plausible.

But it is also clear that a lot of people do and a significant number of those who do care very deeply. Some of them caring in the sense they very much support it and love the fact Reform are the party of choice too.

EDIT: I would also add that is clearly an issue for a lot of people judging my how many got involved in the debate and how many continue to hold an opinion (despite being told it has all blown over and no longer matters).

Surely the outers are more of the cause because anyone who doesn't care is probably an inner by default as they don't want anything to rock the boat?

I am not suggesting you SHOULD change your opinion, just within the context of what you are saying about uniting the fan base it would be easier (numbers wise) for the outers to forgive him.

Again, not suggesting anyone puts their moral issues aside, just making the point.

Again I don't get your point.

The division is on Ashton. He has made those of us who feel as we do feel like we do.

Of course we could put up, shut up and pretend all is well and I appreciate you are not telling me to do that (whilst saying the division is on me in some odd way).

The division is on Ashton and disappears when Ashton goes (unless those who have become very vocal about wanting him here - especially at least one who prior to this wanted him out - then kick up a fuss about wanting him back).

Organise a protest at the next home game then if you feel that strongly about it,it’s easy banging on about it here, but would you organise a protest away from your keyboard? I’m not so sure.I think you may find it’s not as cut and dry as you believe.

Me I’m more for the football and enjoying that, let the football do the talking.I had a great day yesterday and I only listened to the football and watched the highlights.

Oh and I’m Ashton in.

Anyway, the big question that is being ignored in all of this - if Ashton is out that just leaves Gardner and Dyke and who will manage a resurrection shuffle then ?

Why are people still refusing to see the obvious? Regardless of whether you support Reform or not Ashton has brought the club into disrepute, affecting fans, players, staff and sponsors detrimentally and has to go.
