Feels like everything rests on this derby 10:16 - Apr 8 with 2941 viewsjasondozzell

Monday was good but we do look vulnerable when we're trying to manage games. Brilliant moment for MacAteer though and how good was Hirst's assist? Ben Johnson also doing brilliantly for us. All about the players and KM - they are the football club and not the charlatan Chairman. And thank god for that.

Saturday is going to be really tough. They are flying. But if we can somehow do it I think the momentum will carry us over the line.

Ashton out.

One look at the table could tell you that isn't true.

Huge game though.

I just hope we get at them and don't show them too much respect or let the occasion get the better of us tbh. They're in good form but so are we, we've got the better side on paper and they've not become PSG overnight. Last time out at CR they drew against a pretty poor Pompey side, they're 8 points off Southampton in 6th having played a game more, 10 off Hull both with 5 to play. They're out of the playoff picture which might suit them in a way, but we need to play with similar freedom, treat it like any other game and try to dictate the tempo. We've got so much quality in Nunez, Mehmeti, Philogene, Clarke and we need a couple of them to be bang on it.

We've also got a well rested Davis to come back, and as well as Johnson has done filling in it'll be nice to see Leif again.

It's one that most of us have probably priced into the two allowed defeats, in fairness. But against that I'd say that I don't really want to go to Pompey three points behind Boro and feeling we need to win there, anything can happen at Fratton Park if their team is desperate and crowd bang up for it.

The way I'd see it is – defeat will narrow the path but won't be terminal; draw and we're probably ticking along as we need to; win and you'd have to say our prospects look very good indeed.

It’s always very big game, it would be a very big game if we were marooned in mid table.

It's going to be tough but we have the better players they just need to all turn up on the day. A lot depends on Azor being fit. If he is I'd be happy with a draw, Boro and Southampton are the games we need to peak.

Well I did think that this is their cup final as they have nothing else to play for, but they could push Hull out of the playoffs if Hull continue their poor run, and they play each other on the last day.

Sorry to be defeatist but I can't see us winning this match. I try to keep my negativity to myself but on the plus side I don't think it'll define our season either. You can see where 4 wins could happen and I think that'll be enough.

If you liked my post, please take the time to upvote it. It's very much appreciated.

Winning on Saturday will be a major boost. However, losing is not the end of the world, especially if one or two other results go our way.

This may turn out like 2024, when we toughed it out as other long-term challengers stumbled.

If we win this game. On the road against an opponent we have a horrible record against, who are bang in form.

It will feel like having one foot back in the prem tbh.

It would be a huge shot in the arm, and for all the talk of our middling away form we have picked up 10 points from the last 5 games on the road, and that includes the robbery at Stoke. Other than the Wrexham debacle the only other defeat since Leicester in mid December was at Sheff United. 2 defeats away in 4 months / 8 games, hopefully we can make it 9.

We're well capable of winning on Saturday and need to go there with that mentality. We've got 7 games left, we'll possibly need to win 4 of them. As you say if we can get one this weekend we'll be in an incredible position, guaranteed to still be 2nd with 6 games left while others only have 4. Pompey then becomes a great opportunity to add the cream on top and the breathing space which would properly dent Millwall and Boro's hopes.

It's a humungous game on 11:50 - Apr 8 with 1859 viewsDyland

I'm already excited, which is unusual cos I'm a grumpy sod.

Budgies bang on form and looking pretty decent to boot.

A derby day away. Where our recent record is sh1te.

A Town team that sputters when we all think they may kick on, in games let alone match to match. But one which is certainly capable of tonking any team in this division if they could just click into fooking gear and stop being so dozy for chunks of games.

Massive game, with the caveat we can lose and still be favourites for second if we win the next couple.

If we take 3 points from the next 2 games it means we go into Boro game in second place regardless of what they do this weekend.

A great position to be in & if those 3 points do come against Norwich then it’ll be even sweeter.

We are certainly capable of beating them on our day but they will be well up for this game so every one of our players needs to show up which they didn’t against Brum.

Matusiwa being fit to start would be a massive boost. Keep it tight for the first half hour and then score before half time to silence the crowd. Then defend like their lives depend on it in the second half. If we do concede an equaliser then it’s not the end of the world as long as we can hang on for the draw

Even a loss isn't season defining, or rather, it doesn't have to be. Everything will still be in our hands. They have the chance to prove the doubters (including me) wrong; for this squad to show some mettle, character, define themselves by how they end the season.

Look on it as a free hit, kind of. And if we win, especially if it's convincing, given the context of the season it will be one of the great days under McKenna.

if it wasn't a derby, i'd say it's the bggest free hit of the 7

-boro obviously has implications for the top 2
-soton could be a pointer for the playoffs
-the other 4 are games which we ought to win if we want to go up, so the pressure is high

we're probably not expected to win away at noj with their form

We need a minimum of 4 pts from scum and Pompey. Don’t care how we get them. 3pts or less from these two and it’ll be squeaky bum time heading into Boro game.

Big game but not season defining, confident we'll get something from the game. Oh, and to the op, give it a rest Re: Ashton, it'll all work it's way out in time.

What I would do for another Coventry away type performance.

Maybe the most impressive performance I have seen from a McKenna team.

Won't give it a rest until he's gone.

No problem with Farage visiting and having a photo.

Massive problem with one ego thinking he can use the club as he wants to endorse political parties and then lie to supporters insulting their intelligence.

I agree with you on both points. I don’t think it’s a sackable offence however.

Some of us have been saying for a long time that his role deserves more scrutiny; his transfer dealings have particularly made this necessary- shame that it has taken this political fallout for everyone else to start believing it.

I expect the Norwich supporters are more nervous about this game than us. Most of us are hoping for a draw at best. For Nodge, this is all they have to play for... knowing if they were to lose they'd be helping us to one foot in the Prem.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Think they are rather bullish which is understandable given their form, they are at home.

I watched them against Oxford and they moved the ball about well and quick against and awful Oxford side that day admittedly but they looked a good side to me.
