Would you start Leif on Saturday? 10:30 - Apr 10 with 2470 viewsHackneyblueboy

Does everyone assume Leif comes straight back in for the derby? I just wonder whether it might make sense to move Greaves to LB. Leif is obviously one of our best players but I do have some concerns he could be a bit rusty and does have a habit of getting caught out defensively sometimes. Maybe having Greaves and being a bit more compact for the first 60/65 mins could work better.

Yep. Would argue Johnson is more of a threat than Davis. Better crosser of the ball. Gets into better positions in the box and generally has a better shot. Also better positionally as a defender (see block Saturday for reference) he literally got moved to cover Birminghams main threat at the weekend as he is a good quick defender.

I agree he's a good crosser of the ball and possibly ahead of Davis with that, but he's very right footed and that's an issue in itself. Clarke likes to pick the ball up and come inside, and find pockets of space coming inside. Davis is good at those overlapping decoy runs which occupies defenders and I think we've missed that.

Johnson is solid and he's versatile enough to play on both sides so makes a perfect sub option.

As he’s one of our leaders on the pitch, I’d say yes, he starts but he presumably won’t play the full 90 mins so I’d bring on Johnson or Greaves later depending on the score at that time.

Get to 4 or 5 up, then make subs to rest players ready for the bigger games to come.

Reckon Kipre and Davis both come back in.

Walton; Furlong, Davis, Kipre, O'Shea; Matusiwa, Neil; Clarke, Nunez, McAteer; Hirst.

Then Tuesday -

Kipre for Greaves
Neil for Taylor
Clarke for Philogene
McAteer for Burns
Hirst for Ivan

McKenna will start him and that lot will target balls down that flank and get a lot of joy.

Whoever plays in that position needs to defend first.

Time to move on and support the team, mate.

Why would you drop Greaves? He's been brilliant since coming back in.

MOTM for me vs. Brum.

Those suggesting Leif shouldn’t play because he’s missed 3 games and won’t be fit or will be rusty must be expecting some very strange PL line ups considering they’ve had a 3 week break.

The guy is probably the fittest player in the squad. If anything the break will have done him good. He will have been training hard and had minutes behind closed doors. It’s a nonsense argument. Absolutely has to start unless there is any tactical reason for McKenna. Fully expect him to start as we are a far more effective team with him in it.

Kipre has proven budgie slaying credentials.

That one is a tough call for me actually. Greaves has been playing well but I feel we generally look more solid with Kipre alongside O'Shea.

Davis coming back in is much less of a tough call. He's not coming back from an injury so although he might be a touch game rusty, he'll be fully fit. He's arguably still our best player, certainly top 3 for me, and we've looked less of a threat down that side since he's been out. Johnson has deputised well but for me it's a no brainer bringing Davis back in.

Just got a hunch he'll be seen as a better matchup for Toure (who I assume will start for them).

I could also see an outside chance Kipre comes into the center and Greaves plays LB if he wants to throw a curve ball.

Worked a treat at Cov, less well Sheff U.
