| Ok I’ve crunched the numbers! 04:55 - Apr 17 with 1945 views | Joey_Joe_Joe_Junior | Run the data simulators, compared the analytics, typed it all in the super computer and asked a random bloke in Starbucks (that by his puzzled look I don’t believe has ever watched the sport). The good news is, if we win Sunday we will get promoted automatically when all said and done. If we don’t, Southampton will do us on goal difference after beating Preston 3-0. Big game! | |

Still not must win. If we lose, the only way we drop out of 2nd is of Millwall win. So, by Sunday evening we’re either in 2nd, or 3rd, 1 point off second, still with a game in hand. If we do win, it will feel more comfortable, but must win means if we don’t win, it's all over - and it’s not there yet.
| Ok I’ve crunched the numbers! on 07:50 - Apr 17 with 1544 views | MK1 | Win on Saturday and we still have 2 tricky games away from home. We beat Charlton and QPR obviously. WBA away could be dicey, but I think we win that one as well. That just leaves the small matter of going to St. Mary's. That is the "MUST NOT LOSE" game. | |

I just can’t see us winning on Saturday at all. My reckoning is at the end of the day, we’ll still be on exactly the same points we’re on now.

Saturday already has the feeling of one of those days where the atmosphere is flat because the crowd just don’t show up at all.

I think the ground will have a surprisingly high number of empty seats on Saturday.
| Ok I’ve crunched the numbers! on 10:21 - Apr 17 with 1060 views | Weekender | The way i'm thinking about it is that we at least need to match Saints points tally before we play them. We have 3 games they have 2. We also need to gain enough point to keep ahead of Millwall and Boro of course. In this scenario we will be 3 points ahead of Saints and would be promoted with a draw at St Mary's. If we to loose it would then down to a final day shootout where we would need to match Saints result and hope goal difference remains in our favour. | |

Inclined to agree. If not by definition, perhaps in substance. I don't trust us on the road at all, especially with them all coming in such quick succession. Its a brutal schedule. I think we could find a result at Charlton or WBA, but probably not both. I don't fancy us at St Mary's with the form they're in either. We're capable, and from their perspective they'll be off the back of Man City at Wembley which might be tough for them to regroup from, but I'd much rather we went there not needing it. Win the 2 home games and it takes an awful lot of pressure off the silly 3 away days in the space of 6 days. 1 win from them probably does it, 1 win and a draw certainly does it irrespective of other teams results. Need to win Sunday. If we don't I think its a coin toss for 2nd, if we do I make us 85%+ likely.

Agree with St Marys being 'Must not lose'. If we did we'll have very little wiggle room. I think many of us can't quite bring ourselves to believe that the stats for the season so far will continue to the end of the season. If they do we go up - if they dip it will be proper squeaky bum time.

It's a MUST win no doubt about it whatsoever. Anyone thinking otherwise is just trying to avoid facing reality because there's no chance Town win 3 back to back to back difficult away games in 8 days following it. Has to be 6 pts from both the home games left otherwise it's playoffs

I don’t see us winning Wednesday night and Saturday lunchtime back to back on the road before Southampton but I do think we beat Charlton and QPR. A point is not a good result Sunday unless QPR and Swansea get something. If either Millwall or Southampton win, we need to win. One point out of 6 isn’t going to fly for this team before playing 3 away games in 6 days. WBA on the shortest of rest and Saints is pretty horrible. [Post edited 17 Apr 12:46]

You’d want to go to Southampton with a 4 point lead really to keep it firmly in your hands v QPR. Too close for comfort on GD now.

It would be peak Town to drop points then go to Southampton and beat them.

Exactly. The fixture list is not kind, 4 points would frankly be an expected haul from West Brom Charlton and Saints and it's not beyond the realms of possibly we pick up fewer than 4 So Sunday is must win as is QPR Otherwise we're back to relying on others dropping points

That’s factually wrong though if we go there with a four point lead which is what we have to try and do.
