So what the hell does he do now? 18:18 - Apr 19 with 2123 viewsJoey_Joe_Joe_Junior

Made a load of changes at looked awful and flat at Pompey.

Charlton must win but I think WBA is as well and basically 60 hours later. I guess some will be forced anyway but it’s going a clear headache. Players already look exhausted.

Poll: Ok gut feeling then, promotion?

4 years and 2 promotions.

You’re absolutely mental.

One of them being from League 1 with the biggest budget and spend ever seen in that league though.

Just finished watching the game, I thought we played OK for the most part but 2nd half wasn't a great watch, Boro cut through us too easily and we looked wide open at times. Don't think Nunez played well at all first half, seemed to lose possession cheaply far too often. Mehmeti wasn't much of an upgrade when he came on admittedly. I actually thought Taylor OK, as he often is. Not Matusiwa's best game alongside him IMO.

Really disappointing result, I fancied us if we won that but now I'm a lot less confident given the schedule and travel.

Still, 1 game at a time. Need to beat Charlton now, favours from Stoke and Bristol City would also be welcome but I'm not holding my breath. If we could manage that on Wednesday it would set up a huge one at West Brom where a win would make Southampton a 'free hit' on the assumption we would do the job against QPR if we need to. First things first need to find a win on Wednesday night. How? I'd suggest fewer changes, the only ones I'd contemplate are in the 4 forward roles. Clarke for Philogene and Mehmeti for Nunez for some freshness, maybe Hirst over Ivan on the same logic. Otherwise I'd like to see us unchanged.

Wasn't that the season before? Tired rhetoric.

Have to wonder why so many players look tired when we rotate to the extent we do.

Is it tiredness, or lacking urgency? We normally look very casual whatever minute of the match.

How many more times, budget and spend doesn't automatically equate to success.

Best 11 & go with it now I think.

Win the next 2 & it’s basically done.

If they are exhausted, they most certainly shouldn't be. I made a post over on the site a couple of days ago, showing exactly why. To sum up, 11 of our squad haven't even played the equivalent of one third of a full seasons 90 minute games yet. Others have played somewhat less than that, and only 5 outfielders have played more than 30. Dara O'Shea is the shining light with about the equivalant of 44 full 90 minute games after today, taking into account internationals, cup games and matches played for other teams. I presume this is the idea behind KM's rotation policy. Is it working?

If something is causing flatness and two different halves syndrome, it cannot be laid at the door of fatigue.

I thought it was mental today. The moment we conceded the second goal we seemed to collapse. We weren't even back to 100% when we won the penalty, though were getting back into the game.

We are not able to rotate in the engine room of the side though. Matusiwa is running on fumes. I don’t think anyone saw Taylor playing the amazing of minutes he has this season but we don’t have much choice with Nunez ending up at 10, Cajuste out of favour and Neil struggling to make an impact

Exactly that. He's quick isn't he taylor? Always thought he had a really good turn of pace but was running in treacle at times. This isn't a go at Taylor. I think he put a lot into the game but it was shocking how his legs went.

For the second goal I was also screaming at Philogene to go with the runner. For all Davis did wrong Jaden should have been tracking. He was hooked straight after.

It's a big problem for the prem. Technically Nunez and Mehmeti are good footballers. But they are painfully slow in terms of pace. It's a problem we have I think. Ashton talked about the need for more athletic signings but we didn't do it. I think Mcateer was with that in mind. Decent today but he has a lot to do to make it.

Jaden should have tripped hi man and taken the yellow.

Poor pass from Leif though and yet Greaves seemed to have it all under control but ....

We didn't the last few seasons. Morsy and Luongo were basically ever presents in 2022/23 and 2023/24. Same with the back four - in League One it was basically Clarke, Davis, Woolfenden, Burgess with Tuanzebe replacing Clarke in the Championship. The four up top slightly more, but that's no different to this year.

With the biggest budgets in the league. Let's be honest here the promotion to the Premier league was a brilliant season and and a plus to his cv. The Premier season however was an embarrassment considering the money we spent and now look at our away record against the bottom ten. Its appalling despite our so called brilliant squad. Look at all the games we've only played one half. The constant changing of the starting eleven and the far too late subs. Praise for the early days maybe but he's not worth the wage at the moment. Promotion with the backing he has had in this league should be nailed on not probably going to the last game if we are lucky.

The amount spent across 2024/25 was massive for us but not much considering to the net spend of the established Premier League teams in the division. Even Leicester and Southampton had spent more on last season's squads through the years.

Plus he's had a lot of financial backing but has the money been spent well? I said it earlier, but we ended up bringing in players who were upgrades, but didn't necessarily compliment McKenna's system.

Fair play here, on an afternoon riddled with ludicrous hot takes, this is the most stupid comment of the day.
