| The ITFC womens team 16:12 - Apr 24 with 982 views | gtsb1966 | I wonder how much it costs to run a year and why do clubs have a womens team if they run at a loss.. Dont get me wrong I'm not knocking it and I'm all for it . I'm just curious because it's obvious our owners are here to hopefully make money if we become an established premier league team. Do the losses count towards the profit and sustainability figures? [Post edited 24 Apr 16:14]

| The ITFC womens team on 16:36 - Apr 24 with 834 views | burnbudgiesburn | My thoughts on the womens team are that it would be irresponsible for any club not to take having a womens team seriously. It would be akin to those early English champions not taking the european cup seriously. Look at the progress in womens football since Keys & Gray mocked it 20 years ago - it is a slower paced game than the mens, but the technical level is on a different planet now than it was back then. Now fast forward 20 years from now and WSL/WSL2 is a mainstream sport, why would you not want your club to be one of the leading teams? | | | |

The mens teams have been around from the year dot. ...but you know that. I was merely asking how much does it cost and why are owners prepared to fund it when so many clubs are losing money. Im glad they do.

Before the FA banned women's football for 50 years, women's football was actually more profitable than the men's game. Players for teams such as Dick Kerr's Ladies were bona fide celebrities, and in 1921 a 53k crowd was recorded at Goodison Park, with thousands turned away at the gate. Hard to believe it, really, but it's true. [Post edited 24 Apr 17:27]

| The ITFC womens team on 17:36 - Apr 24 with 608 views | Freddies_Ears | A Women's team is part of the brand, bringing in more fans. Many, many fans of women's football do not go to see their mens team (I was surprised by that stat btw). After being banned for so long, and many would say actively discouraged for even longer, the women's game is now growing very quickly. Crowds are growing, online interest is growing. The cost of a women's team is roughly (rule of thumb, don't take it as applicable to every club!) the cost of the highest-paid men's player, where there is an equivalent men's team. So it is seen as a reasonable investment. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

| The ITFC womens team on 18:29 - Apr 24 with 465 views | Swansea_Blue | I’m thinking that maybe the reason clubs have women’s teams is because women exist. That’s just a hunch though (a hunch about the reason, not whether women exist; I know they do as I’ve seen them out in the wild). You could ask exactly the same question of the men’s game. Certainly at our level and below clubs can only continue to function through owners covering losses. | |

You cant ask the same question about the mens game. You're skewing the question. Your first paragraph has no relevance to what I asked. Stop stirring.

"And you fell for it just like the fascists you are" Footnote: I thought I remembered that line from Rick in one episode, and typed it into Google (with quotation marks), and Google AI responded with: "I understand you're upset, but I must operate within safety guidelines. If you have a question or a topic you'd like to explore, I'm here to provide information." So Google AI thinks I am actually referring to it if I type "you" into the search bar? Can any other posters confirm/test this hypothesis??

| The ITFC womens team on 19:33 - Apr 24 with 334 views | Mark | It's great that we have a successful ITFC Women side. I look forward to the day when they can play all their matches at Portman Road. I also look forward to the WSL2 stopping the discourtesy of scheduling women's matches the same day/time the men's side play - however can we grow the game and sell season tickets if they do that?! | | | |

Sorry, what? You asked why do women’s teams exist if they make a loss. All I was saying is that they exist for exactly the same reason as men’s teams; because there’s a demand from people who want to play and football clubs are normally run at a loss irrespective of the gender of the team. Nothing more. No stirring. PS, I was being flippant in my original reply though, so apologies for that 😊 [Post edited 24 Apr 19:39]

Pocket money compared to the £4.3M loss of their mens team in their last accounts. We had a £39M+ loss that year for a bit of further context. Of all the things wrong with football, having to put a bit of money into the women’s game is very low on my worry list. Christ, I’m sounding like a real leftie these days lol
