This season has been a disaster (discuss) 08:11 - Apr 25 with 1900 viewsfab_lover

Bear with me. It's not about promotion.

After 25 years of supporting the club, I've never felt so down about it

Not that my support will ever stop. Ipswich til I die...

...but. To the rest of the football community, we are now perceived as fascist cheaters.

Should we care?

Imagine being in a relationship, and for years people think your partner is cute, kind, loveable.

Then people change their mind about them. Partly because of things they did; partly because of circumstance.

You'd still love your partner; but it would take the gloss off. Your relationship would be something you would have to defend, not something you'd have validated as before.

Supporters of other clubs - Millwall or Leeds come to mind - have dealt with this for years. Maybe it gets easier with time.

Personally, I'd rather not even be in the play offs and have my club back as it was.

Feel free to tell me I'm a melt etc; but does anyone else feel this way?

Uppa Town.

The whole Farage thing has really ruined the season for me personally. Which is a real shame, as I had actually really enjoyed it up to that point. The negativity towards what has been probably our 4th best season this century has totally baffled me.

The wider football community are too busy being obsessed with our penalties tbh.

Penalties is the new deflections - we must be the luckiest club in the country (if you ignore all the apologies from the EFL in decisions!)

Of course not. I was totally shocked and angered by Ashton’s actions, not to mention a bit drunk when I posted that. I’m still angry at it, and any success we have this season will certainly have the gloss taken off it for me. But I can’t just stop caring. I feel a bit like I’ve been cheated on by someone I’m totally in love with

Ive downvoted but im being unfair I guess.

I just cannot understand how an one off (albeit crap) event can take the gloss off a entire season.

But it obviously cuts really deep

I felt let down by the reform thing big time the week it happened. But honestly I out that on Ashton and his credit is lost.

It hasn't tarnished the whole club and nobody other than maybe Norwich fans (and some of ours which I respect their opinion on because it was wrong) are even thinking about it anymore.

Personally on that I've moved on and expect Ashton to prove himself again and build his reputation back or he can go.

The cheaters bit is baffling. Are you really listening to the outside noise on that which is so ridiculous. Since football began football fans will p like in on successful clubs "getting all the decisions', "cheating etc". Same as how when we don't get them we exaggerate it all being against us. It's nonsense. Pick any game. Pick last night. Millwall clearly should have been down to 10. Worst tackle of the season. Their fans were moaning Choudhury wasn't sent off.

I'm summary you have blown things out of all proportion in my opinion. And that's all it is. My opinion btw.

That’s fair enough. We all have our own personal journey in life. My partner is an immigrant, my children are the descendants of immigrants. The far right are my enemies, and in my mind a threat to my loved ones. I don’t want the football club I love associated with them in any way. I understand people don’t see at as a big deal, but I find it extremely difficult to stomach. I don’t expect everyone to feel the way I do, and I expect there’s a majority of people who don’t care at all.

It’s seeing proof that Aston is untrustworthy imo. Not inviting Farage per se (although that wasn’t great), but by then lying to us he compound the problem. We should have enough self respect to not be happy with being lied to and taken for fools.

Anyway, Uppa town

If people perceive that this is a club of fascist cheaters then it’s because they’re thick as sh1t. And when people that are thick as sh1t have opinions they should be ignored.
