Also, knowing that there’s only 2 games left to nail it down in the regular season could in itself impart the adrenaline which gives that edge of extra energy.

That’s a ridiculous comparisons. There are plenty of studies that show that the game was more physical 30-50 years ago, it is now much more intense and demanding on players. Stats such as 50% more sprinting, the ball being in play for 15 minutes more, etc.
You cannot even begin to compare the two eras.
And in that season you mention, the team massively underperformed from mid March, going from the team with the treble within their grasp, to just winning one trophy. I loved that squad, and that season, but to try and hold it up as justification for this squad having it easy is unjustified. | | | |

We're playing a team who've just got knocked out of the FA Cup semi finals. Surely they have more in common with our team of 81 than us.
Honestly, we are really over-thinking this. Our best player over the last 10 games or so is O'Shea.... and he's been ever-present. If there's one player who needs a rest... its O'Shea, except he's playing better than anyone else
