Was at my Dads over the weekend and he found an old year photo from School, I left in the early 90's but going through it the amount of people I couldn't name was quite startling, these people you're with day in day out for years and I drew a complete blank, some of them I didn't even recognise.
Anyone else have the same issue, or do I need to go and get a cognitive check.... |  |

I’m often seeing people posting old school pictures on a few fb pages I’m on,I remember the faces but not the names.

Left school in 1963 can name around half of them from both junior school and high school. Have one friend who has a photographic memory . She even named the majority of those in a mothers and toddlers photo taken in 1948. |  |

Memory is a weird thing. I'm pretty average to bad day to day, peoples names, colleagues etc, kids friends. But I recently found a treasure trove of old school photos, primary and secondary from the 80s and 90s and I could name 99 percent of the random kids that I haven't set eyes on in well over 30 years in most cases. Yet I get my own kids names mixed up some times!
Side point, are there any other types of trove?! They seem exclusively treasure based. |  | | |

I left high school in the mid/late 90s and during lockdown I dusted down a few old photos from my secondary school years - I couldn’t remember that many names, faces yes, but not names.
I’ve only seriously kept in touch with a few people from back then hear on the grapevine what has happened to a few others. Don’t think anyone in my year has made their fortune - a couple have spent time in jail though. |  | | |

I haven't any photo's but I remember school days well although 60 years ago. I went to Stow secondary modern from 19653 until 1965 and then to Bacton from 1965 until 1967.
I know a few of my pals from then have passed away and am not sure of the rest. Terry Jackson passed a couple of years ago, maybe three. Many of my classmates came from Mendlesham and a few were in other classes.
Kelvin Clarke (known by us as Mash), Stephen Thorley or Steaky.
Jimmy Lowe was the vicars son and a Palmer was related to the bakery in Haughley.
I think Sally Bloom as she was and then married Billy Frost who passed away several years ago, is still around although haven't seen her for a couple of years. She was fancied by all the boys.
The best part of school for me was when we were going home on the bus. Braybrookes used to also send a mini bus that could only hold twelve of us. It used to turn around out the front of the school so the doors would be flung open whilst it was still moving and everyone would clamber aboard because it went straight to Mendlesham, unlike the main bus which called in at various villages before getting home. |  | | |

Nah, it's definitely normal to forget.
I left school in 1993 and only remember about 20 people, 4 of which I meet up with once a year. One of those 4 literally remembers everyone and sometimes says name I don't even recognise.
If you think about it, you were at high school for 5 years, not a long time, really, and lots going on with teenage life highs and lows. |  |

Nah, it's definitely normal to forget.

If you think about it, you were at high school for 5 years, not a long time, really, and lots going on with teenage life highs and lows. |
I went to 9 schools so hard enough remembering which ones let alone anyone in photos. |  | | |

When the year photos were all put up on the Notice board, he was at both ends of the photo, everybody thought it was hilarious, especially as it was quite a strict school. |  | | |
