Thoughts with the victims and anyone affected by this. There needs to be some sort of cross-party/cross-agency effort to address this seriously. It feels like it’s quickly becoming an emergency. And I don’t just mean strengthening anti-terror laws again; rather a real effort to address the root causes (whatever they are and if such a thing is even possible). |

I heard an interesting interview earlier with a Rabbi local to Golders Green who said nothing can be done. His view was that fundamentally it comes down to hatred against Jews. He was saying that all of the ‘reasons’ for antisemitism throughout history are nothing more than excuses that just hide bigotry and hatred. The Palestine situation being the latest ‘reason’ for people to try to justify their antisemitism. I can see his point as surely it’s very easy to disassociate the actions of Netanyahu and his cronies from normal Jews going about their lives in the UK. Yet some people decide not to make that distinction.

'The Palestinian situation' really is the most sickening euphemism for a people driven from its land and bombed in refugee camps and hospitals.
It's very hard to see how the mass of humanity can keep up the pretence that the political direction, the moral compass and the fundamental humanity of many ostensibly religion-aligned regimes around the world can be even remotely compatible with [insert religion here]-ish values. Israel is certainly way up that heinous list.
Criticism of that country’s government certainly is “a Jewish obligation”, as is for example the Pope's criticism of that orange facilitator of horror, or that of Imams to the Iranian regime. Easier to do perhaps when you have both the rights and responsibilities of a relatively free and democratic country and an independent judiciary.

Those marches are attended by tens of thousands, the majority are peacefully protesting against what they see as injustice and exercising their right to free speech.
I assume you also take the same stance about the right-leaning marches in London that also have some troublemakers?
