| Hutchinson. 21:15 - Apr 30 with 3089 views | bsw72 | The thought occurred to me driving home from work after a late set of meetings that the loss of Hutchinson at the start of the season probably affected us and unbalanced the wings far more than I realised earlier in the season. Possibly more than Delap considering the timing of his departure. | | | | |
| Hutchinson. on 21:25 - Apr 30 with 2889 views | GlasgowBlue | Don't think he unbalanced the wings as he played as a 10 for us in the Premier League. We played Johnson, Philogene, Ogbene and Burns on the right wing last season. Definitely couldn't replace him as a 10 this season though. | |

| Hutchinson. on 21:27 - Apr 30 with 2885 views | TRUE_BLUE123 | Losing Hutchinson was a big loss and our right hand side has been hugely problematic this season. A lot of games this season where we have dropped points it was because teams just shut us down on the left and gave Leif and whoever was with him no space to play, so we are relying on them to do something magic (which tbh they have done on numerous occasion). Our right and side had more space but you have Furlong who is a solid player but he doesn't give you a lot on the ball and then we have had 2 wingers who just haven't been up to the standard. Egeli doesn't even look like a winger bless him and Mcateer had a couple of decent games recently but still not at the standard imo. Win this Saturday and I believe in Clarke and Philogene between them to be better players in the prem and hopefully Leif can get some help from midfield or maybe even a chance to play LWB and show his attacking qualities. I would be pumping some serious money in to the right hand side. New starting RB and a couple new right wingers if Wes is to go. | |

I don't usually hold it against young players who move, but he went about it like a spoiled brat, and let us down, big time, even Sammy S played for Blackburn before moving here, even if he didn't train during the pre-season, he at least showed some respect. But we never tried to block a move away, we just wanted him to play the first few games but he was not interested.

Poorly advised, from our point of view, by his agent who has a bit of history for been troublesome. If we'd have kept him the league title would have been ours a while ago.

Completely agree. He was a huge loss. With and without the ball he was brilliant. He would have been the best player in the championship by a distance this season.

Yep both Mehmeti and Nunez have showed signs of class, but far too often they’ve put in average performances, annoyingly especially of late!

I’d forgotten that - what a mistake. Still doesn’t look ready in the 10 and won’t be for a while, and is thriving on the right. He also didn’t start consecutive games until February (league) 23/24…, we really didn’t get the best from him, as good as he was. Played 10, shudder. Too immature at this stage, loves and needs the space out wide - playing very well the last month or two, good luck to him, very talented. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
| Hutchinson. on 01:18 - May 1 with 1908 views | WicklowBlue | Hmmm not too sure about this. Yes Hutch would have been a cheat code for us, however he threw his toys out of the pram and forced a move so be it. Personally we didn't learn from last season and our recruitment in CM and CF has led us to where we are. Both positions are probably the hardest and most expensive to recruit into. Matusiwa has been excellent but flogged to death as no direct sub on the bench. Shirley Philogene was the direct replacement for Hutchinson? I'd go as far as Delap was the biggest loss in that we didnt replace his goals from last season. Hirst was never going to fill that gap even on his best form. Maybe we thought Akpom would contribute more than he has just like Phillips could have done last season. Anyways my priority recruitment wise next season regardless of League would be on the spine of the team. Namely 2 centre mids and 2 top level centre forwards. | | | |
| Hutchinson. on 03:50 - May 1 with 1790 views | tcblue | Any unbalancing of the team was caused by how he forced his move. I don't personally begrudge him of that, a footballer career is short and he has no reason to be especially 'loyal' to our club. But equally there's not really much the club could do in.that situation either, other than ensuring a good transfer fee | | | |
| Hutchinson. on 05:42 - May 1 with 1682 views | franz_tyson | Losing good players is part of football. And good clubs realise this and the better ones take advantage of this, and try and get the best price and profit whilst looking for the next replacement. So it's not that Hutch moved on for a lot of money( which is an indication of success), but the fact we didn't get an appropriate replacement. With Egeli, McAteer and maybe you can factor in Ogbene. We had oodles of cash and should have had plenty of time to consider that Hutch would want to move on. It shouldn't have been a surprise. It's poor recruitment. Not bad luck that Hutchison left. And the centre forward situation wasn't dealt with properly. And I don't think we got an adequate 10 as well. And even though we brought in a wonderful CM in Matusiwa, he needed a better partner brought in ( well done to Taylor for stepping up). The more I think about it.... Kieran has done well in getting a tune out of a squad which pound for pound isn't the best value. | | | |

| Hutchinson. on 08:46 - May 1 with 1077 views | baxterbasics | I also thought Omari was the biggest loss. Do think we'd have walked the league if we'd kept him. I know people are saying Delap - maybe, with hindsight regarding our striker dearth. But most of us at the start of the season were expecting Hirst to crush it. Didn't happen sadly. | |

| Hutchinson. on 10:10 - May 1 with 828 views | dirtyboy | We got a good price for Hutchinson, but I do think the contribution from what has been a troublesome right side all season would have been much more significant with Omari there and a key player not to disrupt more places in the squad. Had we kept Omari and got Hackney through the door, the league would have looked very different today. That's football though, heads get turned, getting the players you want isn't always easy for various reasons. Obviously did our best, no club spends loads on players expecting them not to be exactly what they want, just happens. Shame we have to move on from such a great player. | | | |
| Nah on 10:25 - May 1 with 755 views | Dyland | Our lack of a clinical 9 has been the biggest problem by far. And that's including the attacking limitations on the right, in part due to Burns' injury. If Delap had stayed and/or Azon could score goals as well as doing the other stuff he does well and/or Hirst hadn't been in such sh1te form for the first few months... we'd be up there with Coventry... imvho. | |

| Hutchinson. on 11:39 - May 1 with 573 views | tcblue | If we had a ten who could play second striker (I thought that would be Akpom but that didn't work out for whatever reason) then we wouldn't have had a Delap shaped hole either. | | | |
